An AI speech writer turns a few details about the occasion, the audience and your stories into a first draft you can edit and practise. Some focus on weddings, others handle any speech, and a few coach your delivery. Choose by the event and how much of the writing you want to do yourself. Nine options follow, in no particular order.
Being asked to give a speech is an honour right up until you sit down to write it. Most people know what they want to say, roughly, and freeze when it comes to turning that into something that sounds good out loud.
The nine tools below include wedding speech writers, general speech generators and a speaking coach. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you'd rather prompt a chatbot yourself, my ChatGPT prompts for wedding speeches walk you through it.
AI speech writers at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

The timing rule the speaking clubs use
Toastmasters International's speech contest rulebook says International and Humorous contest speeches must run five to seven minutes. A green signal shows at five minutes, yellow at six and red at seven, and a speech under four minutes 30 seconds or over seven minutes 30 seconds is disqualified.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
You won't be disqualified at a wedding, but the guests will notice. If a club built around public speaking treats seven minutes as the ceiling for a prepared talk, a toast at a reception should be shorter still. AI drafts tend to run long, so time yours out loud and cut.
How to give an AI draft your own voice
- Give the tool real details: names, a short story and one inside joke.
- Ask for a short draft, then read it aloud and mark anything you wouldn't say.
- Replace general lines with one specific memory.
- Cut any joke that needs explaining or could embarrass someone.
- Practise it standing up, with a timer, at least three times.
Writing for the ear, not the page
A speech isn't an essay. Short sentences are easier to say and easier to follow. Repeating a key line is fine, because listeners can't scroll back up. Pauses do more work than clever words.
Print your final version in a large font with plenty of space, or put it on cards. Then you can look up, catch someone's eye and find your place again without losing the thread.
Signs your speech needs another edit
- It runs past five minutes. Cut a section.
- You can't say a line without stumbling. Rewrite it.
- It could be about anyone. Add a real story.
- A joke needs explaining. Drop it.

My plain advice on AI speeches
Let the AI give you a structure, then fill it with things only you know. A guest will forget a polished line in minutes, but they'll remember the one true story that made the couple, or the team, laugh.
Read the draft aloud tonight with a timer running. If you stumble on a sentence, rewrite it in the words you'd use over coffee. My notes on handling stage fright help with the nerves on the day.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI write a wedding speech?
Yes. Several tools ask about your role, your stories and the tone you want, then draft a full speech you can edit.
How long should a wedding speech be?
Shorter than you think. Toastmasters contest speeches cap at seven minutes, and most toasts work well in three to five.
Will an AI speech sound generic?
It can. Adding names, one specific story and your own phrases is what makes it sound like you.
Can AI help me practise a speech?
Some apps listen as you rehearse and give feedback on pace, filler words and clarity.
Is it fine to use AI for a best man speech?
Yes, as a starting point. The stories and the delivery still need to come from you.
How do I make a speech funny without risk?
Keep jokes kind, avoid anything about exes or money, and test them on one trusted friend first.
