TikTok LIVE Studio is TikTok's own free streaming app for going LIVE from a computer instead of your phone. You download it from tiktok.com, log in with your TikTok account and apply for access inside the app. Access isn't automatic: TikTok checks your account age, followers and recent LIVE time, and the follower bar is higher in the US.
That last point matters. If you meet the rules, you'll see a Get access to go LIVE button. If you don't, TikTok shows the rules you haven't met yet in grey.
Everything below comes from TikTok's own LIVE Studio download page, its operation manual and its help centre, which I read in October 2026.
What LIVE Studio does that your phone can't
TikTok describes LIVE Studio as a PC livestreaming tool that lets creators go LIVE from a desktop, a laptop or a games console. Compared with streaming from your phone camera or a screen recording, it's built for higher quality streams, and unlike third-party streaming software it supports TikTok's own LIVE features out of the box.
- Gaming and screen sharing. Stream gameplay, slides or your desktop rather than only your face.
- TikTok's interaction tools. The download page lists co-host, multi-guest and LIVE goals.
- LIVE Analytics. Insights into your stream and your viewers.
- LIVE chat and LIVE information editing built in, which the manual names as the advantage over generic tools.
In its FAQ, TikTok says LIVE Studio and OBS have similar functions, but LIVE Studio is made by TikTok, you log in with your TikTok account, and TikTok says it offers better information and content safety for creators.
Who can get LIVE Studio access
The operation manual sets out separate rules for the US and for everywhere else. These are the requirements for the 14-day trial:
| Requirement | US | Everywhere else |
|---|---|---|
| Account age | At least 30 days old | At least 30 days old |
| Followers | At least 10k | At least 1k |
| Recent LIVE time | Gone LIVE for more than 25 minutes at least once in the past 30 days | Gone LIVE for more than 25 minutes at least once in the past 180 days |
| Recent bans | LIVE access banned less than once in the last 30 days | LIVE access suspended less than once in the last 30 days |
TikTok's newer access article adds a warning worth taking seriously: the requirements vary by country or region and are subject to change without notice. So treat the table as TikTok's published rules, and trust what the app shows for your own account.
How the 14-day trial turns into 180 days
Meeting the rules gets you a 14-day trial, not permanent access. To have it renewed for 180 days, the manual says you need to go LIVE for more than 25 minutes at least 2 times during the trial. Outside the US, your access also must not have been revoked during the trial.
Here's my practical reading of that: book two full-length streams into your first fortnight before you even click apply. A 10-minute test stream doesn't count towards the 25 minutes.
How to download and set up TikTok LIVE Studio
- Go to tiktok.com on your computer and log in.
- Hover over your profile photo in the top right corner and click LIVE Studio to reach the download page.
- Download the version for your computer and run the installer.
- When installation finishes, open LIVE Studio and click Login.
- If you meet the requirements, you'll see a Get access to go LIVE button. If not, the rules you haven't met yet show in grey at the top.
- Click Get access to go LIVE for your 14-day access, then Go LIVE now to reach the main screen.
You can also start from the TikTok app: tap the plus icon, swipe to LIVE, tap Get access to go LIVE and request a download link, which TikTok sends to the email address you enter.
Coming from Twitch or YouTube? There's a separate route
If you stream on another platform but aren't an active TikTok LIVE creator, TikTok's access article says you're sent to an application form instead. You fill in details about your channel elsewhere, and the review can take days. You'll get a notice in the TikTok app when you're approved.
That's useful for gaming creators with an audience on another site, because it means a small TikTok following isn't the end of the road.

TikTok LIVE Studio system requirements
TikTok's FAQ now says LIVE Studio is available for both macOS and Windows, although the download page still carries the note that it only supports 64-bit Windows 10 and newer. These are the minimum Windows specs TikTok lists:
| Part | Minimum (general LIVE) | Gaming LIVE |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i3 9th Gen or AMD Ryzen 5 3000 Series or higher | Intel Core i5 11th Gen or AMD Ryzen 5 5000 Series or higher |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 Series or AMD Radeon Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series or AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series or higher |
| Memory | 8 GB | 8 GB on the download page, 16 GB in the FAQ's advanced tier |
| Storage | 1 GB | 1 GB |
| DirectX | 11 | 11 |
For Macs, the FAQ lists Apple silicon M1 as the minimum and Apple M2 Pro or higher as recommended. The manual also recommends an upload speed of more than 2.5Mbps, because slower connections cause lag on stream.
Fixing noise and sound problems
The most common complaint in TikTok's FAQ is background noise. Its fix is to open the Audio mixer at the bottom of the middle panel, click Settings under Microphones and turn on Adjust noise suppression, then move the microphone away from your computer fan or keyboard.
If you're new to TikTok LIVE altogether, start with my guide on how to go live on TikTok, and once you're streaming, it's worth knowing how to change your TikTok LIVE title so each stream is easy to find.
My verdict
LIVE Studio is the obvious choice if you want to stream games, tutorials or a full desk set-up to TikTok, because it's free and it carries TikTok's own LIVE features. The catch is access, not the software. Check the follower bar for your country, plan two streams of more than 25 minutes into your first fortnight, and you'll keep it beyond the trial.
