A TikTok ad spy tool searches the ads running on TikTok so you can see which hooks, creators and products competitors are backing. Some are TikTok-first, some cover several networks and some tie each ad to the store or product behind it. Choose by whether you research products, creative or traffic sources. Nine options follow, in no particular order.
TikTok ads look like ordinary posts, which is exactly why they work and why they're hard to research. You can scroll for an hour and never know which videos were ads. Ad spy tools pull them into one searchable place.
The nine tools below suit dropshippers, ecommerce brands, app marketers and affiliate teams. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you're planning creator-style ads of your own, my guide to UGC video ads that drive sales covers the making side.
TikTok ad spy tools compared
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

A creator-style ad still has to say it's an ad
The ASA and CAP guidance on recognising ads on social media says Section 2 of the CAP Code requires marketing communications to be obviously identifiable as such, and it warns against relying solely on a bio or previous posts to show that a post is an ad.
This matters because TikTok ad research mostly turns up creator-style videos that look like recommendations. If you brief a creator to make your own version, the label has to sit in the post itself. A disclosure buried in a profile won't do, in the UK or anywhere similar rules apply.

Product research or creative research?
Product research tools start from the shop. They show you which products have ads behind them, which stores sell them and how long those ads have run. They suit dropshippers and small ecommerce brands deciding what to sell.
Creative research tools start from the video. They help you study hooks, formats and creators so your own ads feel native to TikTok. They suit brands and agencies that already know what they're selling.
Some tools try to do both. That's useful, but it means more menus, so try a search you'd run every week before you commit.
Six things to check before you choose
- Does it show TikTok ads only, or several networks?
- Can you filter by country, niche and how long an ad has run?
- Does each ad link to the product or store behind it?
- Can you download or save videos to a board?
- Does it cover TikTok Shop ads as well as in-feed ads?
- Is there a free plan, a trial or neither?
Signs a TikTok ad is worth studying
- It's been running for weeks. Short tests end fast.
- Several creators made versions. The brand is scaling it.
- The comments ask where to buy. The hook landed.
- It looks like a normal post. That's the format working.

My plain advice on researching TikTok ads
Watch the first three seconds of every ad you save and write down what happens in them. On TikTok the hook does almost all the work, and once you've seen thirty hooks in your niche you'll spot the two or three patterns that keep coming back. Build your own ads around those patterns, with your own face, product and voice.
If you sell through creators, read my explainer on how TikTok Shop affiliate works before you brief anyone.
Frequently asked questions
What is a TikTok ad spy tool?
It's a tool that collects ads running on TikTok so you can search them by niche, country or product and study what competitors are running.
Does TikTok have a free ad library?
TikTok offers its own ad and creative resources, but third-party tools usually add more filters, saved history and product data.
Can I see which products are selling from TikTok ads?
Some tools link ads to the stores and products behind them. Treat any sales numbers as estimates.
Do I need to label a creator ad?
Yes. UK guidance says ads must be obviously identifiable, and relying only on a bio isn't enough.
Are TikTok ad spy tools only for dropshipping?
No. Brands, app marketers and agencies use them to study hooks and formats too.
Which matters more, the hook or the product?
Both, but on TikTok a weak first three seconds means nobody stays long enough to see the product.
