Semrush Pricing: SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced Plans Explained

As of October 2026, Semrush's SEO plan is $139 a month, Starter is $199 a month and Pro+ is $299 a month on monthly billing. Billed annually, they work out at $117.33, $165.17 and $248.17 a month. Advanced is custom-priced, and there's a free plan with 10 reports a day.

Semrush is the SEO tool I hear about most from small business owners who want to see what their competitors rank for. Its pricing has changed shape: the plans are now built around SEO plus AI search visibility, so the right plan depends on whether you only care about Google or also want to track how AI assistants talk about your brand.

What the SEO plan covers

The entry plan is aimed at freelancers and small businesses. Semrush lists 5 websites to monitor and 500 keywords tracked daily, plus basic keyword research and competitor analysis, Position Tracking and Site Audit. For a single business website, that's enough to track your main pages and keep an eye on a few rivals.

Starter keeps the same 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords but adds the fuller keyword research and optimisation tools, competitor insight tools, MCP access and an AI visibility set: 1 domain for AI brand performance, 300 AI visibility reports a day and an AI-ready Site Audit.

Pro+ steps up to 15 websites and 1,500 tracked keywords, with historical SEO data, content optimisation, keyword cannibalisation analysis, multi-location and device tracking, and 100 AI prompts tracked daily. That's the plan for an agency handling several clients, or a business running sites in more than one country.

Advanced is custom-priced and covers 40+ websites, 5,000+ tracked keywords, SEO share of voice, advanced API data integration, team users, reporting and unlimited prompts tracked daily.

The free plan

Semrush's free plan costs $0 and needs no credit card. It gives you 1 demo project and 10 reports a day across its main tools, plus the Help Center and basic onboarding. It's useful for a quick check on a keyword or a competitor, but 10 reports a day runs out fast if you're doing real research.

Add-ons that change the bill

  • Additional users: from $45 a month each, so colleagues get their own logins.
  • Lead Generation: $90 a month for a branded profile on Semrush's agency partner platform and a verified badge.
  • Base Report: $10 a month for scheduled reports pulling data from 20+ Semrush tools, with Google Analytics and Search Console integrations and PDF export.
  • Pro Report: $20 a month for 20+ external integrations, branding and white-labelling, AI summaries and sharing by link.

The extra user fee is the one small teams forget. If two people need their own logins, budget for it from day one. The report add-ons are mainly for agencies sending clients branded updates, so a business owner checking their own site can usually skip them.

Which Semrush tools a small business uses most

In my experience, small business owners open three parts of Semrush week to week. Position Tracking shows where your pages rank for the keywords you care about, and it's where the 500 tracked keywords on the SEO and Starter plans get used. Site Audit crawls your website for broken links, slow pages and missing titles, which is often the quickest win for an older site. Keyword research and competitor analysis show what your rivals rank for and which searches you're missing.

If those three are all you'll use, the SEO plan covers you. The AI visibility tools on Starter and above are worth paying for only once you're ready to act on what they show, such as changing how your brand is described on your own pages.

Monthly or annual billing?

The annual prices are noticeably lower, but you commit for a year. If you're testing whether Semrush fits your workflow, start monthly. Once you're using it every week, switching to annual is the easiest saving you'll make on the tool.

How to choose a Semrush plan

  1. Start on the free plan to see whether the reports answer your questions.
  2. One business site and a focus on Google: the SEO plan.
  3. You also want to track how AI assistants mention your brand: Starter.
  4. Several client sites, locations or countries: Pro+.
  5. Add up extra users and reports before comparing with other tools.

My verdict

For a small business with one website, the SEO plan at $139 a month, or $117.33 a month billed annually, covers what you'll use day to day. Only move to Starter if you'll act on the AI visibility data, because that's the main thing it adds. Pro+ makes sense for agencies and multi-site businesses. Whatever you pick, use the free plan first so you know which reports you'll open every week.

A rival suite handles free access differently, as the Ahrefs free access guide sets out.
