Yes, Meta Business Suite is free. Meta says it's free to use on desktop and in the Meta Business Suite mobile app, and it lets small businesses and creators manage Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp in one place. Scheduling posts, reading insights and replying to messages cost nothing. You only pay if you choose to run ads or boost posts.
For a small business doing its own social media, this is one of the most useful free tools going, and plenty of people still post directly from the apps instead. If you're juggling a Facebook Page and an Instagram account, Business Suite saves you switching between them all day.
Everything below comes from Meta's own Business Help Centre, checked in October 2026, so you can see exactly what's included before you set it up.
What Meta Business Suite does for free
Meta's help centre lists what you can do once your business portfolio is set up:
- See an overview of your business, with a to-do list, recent and scheduled content, and resources to grow your audience.
- Plan a content calendar and schedule Facebook and Instagram content.
- Create and schedule posts, stories and reels, and run A/B tests that compare two versions of the same content.
- View insights on trends, content activity and your audience.
- Use one inbox for messages and comments from your Facebook Page, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Business account, with automations.
- Manage monetisation tools and check for monetisation policy issues.
- Find Instagram creators for your brand with filters and recommendations.
What you need before you start
Meta says your business needs a business portfolio to use Business Suite. That's a container holding your business assets, such as your Facebook Page, Instagram account and ad account, along with the people who have access to them. If you haven't got a Facebook Page yet, my guide on creating a Facebook business page is the first step.
Free features vs paid ones
| Task | Cost in Business Suite |
|---|---|
| Scheduling posts, stories and reels | Free |
| Insights | Free |
| Unified inbox and automations | Free |
| A/B testing organic content | Free |
| Boosting a post or creating an ad | Paid, set by your ad budget |
The suite itself is free. Meta says you can create quick ads or boost content from Business Suite and track them in the Ads tab, but that spend comes from your ad account. For more detailed campaigns, Meta points you to Ads Manager, which you'll find under All tools on desktop.
How to start using Meta Business Suite
- Log in to Meta for Business with the Facebook account that manages your Page.
- Create or set up your business portfolio and add your Facebook Page.
- Connect your Instagram account so you can schedule to both from one place.
- Open the calendar view and schedule your first week of posts.
- Check the Inbox daily so no message or comment goes unanswered.
If your Instagram account isn't showing up, my walkthrough on how to add an Instagram account to Meta Business Suite covers the usual fixes.
Free insights and testing
Business Suite's insights are where the free tool earns its keep. Meta says they show trends, activity on the content you share and information about your audience, which helps you decide what to post more of. You can also run A/B tests that show the same content in two versions and compare which performs better, without paying to promote either.
If you post from your phone, Meta says Business Suite is available on desktop and in its own mobile app, so you can check messages and schedule content wherever you are. The desktop version gives you the fullest set of tools.
Monetisation and creators
For creators and businesses earning on Meta's platforms, Business Suite also gives an overview of your monetisation products, monetisation insights and tasks, and shows whether your business portfolio has any monetisation policy issues, with an option to request another review. Meta also includes a tool for finding Instagram creators to work with, using filters and recommendations.
The free inbox is the hidden win
Of everything Business Suite does, the shared inbox is the one I'd tell any small business to use first. Meta says it brings messages and comments from your Facebook Page, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Business account into one place, and you can set up automations for common questions. For a business owner who answers enquiries themselves, that means fewer missed leads sitting in an app you forgot to open.

More tools inside the suite
On desktop, Meta says the All tools section includes Ads Manager, Reach Planner, Events Manager, Business Support Home, Billing and payments, and Page settings. You won't need most of them on day one, but it's useful to know they live in the same place. If you start running ads later, my guide on setting up conversion tracking for Meta ads is the next step.
My verdict
Meta Business Suite is free, and for most small businesses on Facebook and Instagram it's all the scheduling and inbox tool they need. Set up your business portfolio, connect both accounts and schedule a week ahead. Pay only when you choose to boost a post or run an ad, and set the budget yourself before you click.
