To report a GCash scam, report the scammer to the PNP or NBI, then report it in GCash straight away: open Transactions, select the transaction, tap Get Help, then Report as scam, fill out the ticket and submit. Then block the scammer. If you didn't make the transaction at all, report it as unauthorised within 15 days by chatting with Gigi.
Scams that hit GCash users often start somewhere else: a fake job, a task app, a seller on social media, a message that says your account will be restricted. Speed matters, and so does reporting it the right way. Here's what GCash's Help Center tells you to do, and the limits most people don't know about until it's too late.
Scam or unauthorised transaction? They're reported differently
| What happened | What GCash calls it | Where to report |
|---|---|---|
| You were tricked into sending funds | Scam transaction | Transactions, Get Help, Report as scam |
| Funds left your account without you doing it | Unauthorised transaction | Get Help, then chat with Gigi, within 15 days |
| You sent to the wrong number by mistake | Wrong recipient | Transactions, Get Help, wrong number option, within 15 days |
How to report a scam transaction in GCash
- Report the scammer to the authorities, the PNP or the NBI.
- Log in to GCash and go to Transactions.
- Select the transaction. Tap Load More to find older ones.
- Tap Get Help, then Report as scam.
- Fill out the ticket form and tap Submit.
- Block the scammer on SMS and social media.
Don't exaggerate the report
Here's a rule few people know. When you submit a scam report, GCash says you're acknowledging that anyone who files a report with malice or in bad faith, with false information that leads to funds being held, can be criminally liable for malicious reporting under the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA). Report what happened, accurately, with screenshots. Don't report a deal that simply went sour.
If funds left without your permission
- Check other platforms where GCash is a linked payment method, like app stores or streaming subscriptions. Sometimes the charge is a forgotten subscription.
- Reset your MPIN.
- Update the GCash app, tap Get Help and choose the option about unauthorised transactions.
- Tap Chat with Gigi and report it within 15 days of the transaction date.
GCash says its investigation can take 48 hours to 7 days. Track it under Help, then My Support Tickets.
What Scam Protection won't cover
GCash sells an optional Scam Protection insurance product, underwritten by Chubb. Read the exclusions before relying on it. GCash says there's no coverage for transfers to the wrong account, or for any scam where you're promised a job, or a large return, in exchange for an up-front payment. That explicitly includes investments, loans and task scams. Those are exactly the scams that target people looking to earn online.
The red flags GCash lists
- Unexpected messages or calls about winning a prize, a big discount or a job offer.
- Anyone asking you to transfer first to get something back.
- Any link sent by SMS or email claiming to be GCash. GCash says it'll never send links that way, or ask for your MPIN or OTP.
If the scam started with a fake job or a task app, these guides help you spot the next one: how to spot work-from-home scams and how to report a scammer on Messenger.
What to gather before you report
- Screenshots of the chat, post or ad that led you to send.
- The transaction from your GCash history, with its reference number.
- The scammer's number, account name and any social media profile.
- The date and time you sent, and anything you were promised.
Having this ready makes the GCash ticket and the police report faster and clearer. Don't delete the chat, even if it's upsetting: it's your evidence.
Sent to the wrong number by mistake?
That isn't a scam, and GCash handles it differently. Express Send transfers are real time, so GCash says it can only reverse a transaction if the receiving account is inactive or not in use. If you sent to the wrong person, contact them and ask them to send it back. If the number is old or inactive, report it in the app under the transaction, using Get Help and the wrong number option, within 15 days. GCash says updates come within 1 to 3 business days.
One more thing scam victims often get: a second message offering to recover the lost funds for a fee. That's a follow-up scam. Nobody can speed up a GCash or police investigation for a payment, and a real recovery never starts with you sending more.
My advice
Report it in GCash and to the PNP or NBI the same day, with screenshots of the chat and the transaction. Be honest about what happened. And if anyone asks you to pay first to get a job, a prize or a refund, that's the scam, every time.

Go to Transactions, select the transaction, tap Get Help, then Report as scam, and fill out the ticket. Also report the scammer to the PNP or NBI.

GCash reviews your case after you report it, but there's no guarantee. Express Send transfers are real time, and GCash says reversals are only possible in limited cases.

GCash says to report it within 15 days of the transaction date by chatting with Gigi.
How long does the investigation take?

No. GCash says Scam Protection doesn't cover scams promising a job or returns for an up-front payment, including task scams.
What should I screenshot before reporting?
The chat or ad that led you to send, the GCash transaction with its reference number, and the scammer's number and profile.
