How to Unhide Posts on Facebook: Profile, Page and Feed

To unhide posts on Facebook, open your activity log, find things you've hidden from your profile, and show the post again. On a Page, filter the Activity Log by Hidden posts and click Unhide. The catch: posts you marked Not Interested in your Feed aren't stored as hidden posts, so you'll need to find them on the person's profile instead.

Hiding a post on Facebook takes one tap, which is exactly why so many of us forget we ever did it. A friend's birthday message, a tagged photo from a work night out, an old update from your shop's launch: it's gone from your profile and you can't remember where it went. The good news is that a hidden post usually hasn't gone anywhere at all.

The tricky part is that Facebook uses the word hide for three different things, and each one is undone in a different place. I'll walk you through all three, using what Facebook's help centre says, so you can work out which one you're dealing with and get the post back.

Which kind of hidden Facebook post you're looking for

Before you start tapping, it helps to know where the post was hidden from. Here's a quick way to sort it out:

Where it disappeared fromWhat probably happenedWhere to undo it
Your own profileHide from profileYour activity log
Your Facebook PageHidden from the PageThe Page's Activity Log, Hidden posts filter
Your FeedNot Interested, snooze or unfollowFeed preferences, not the activity log
Your profile, but you'd been taggedThe tag was removedAsk the person to tag you again

Unhiding posts on your Facebook profile through the activity log

Facebook's help centre says you can go to your activity log to view things you've hidden from your Facebook profile. That's your starting point for anything that vanished from your own timeline.

  1. Tap or click your profile picture, then Settings and privacy, then Settings.
  2. Open Activity log. On some versions it sits under Your activity or Access your information.
  3. Look for the category that holds things you've hidden from your profile.
  4. Find the post and use the option next to it to show it on your profile again.

Menus vary by app version and between the app and a computer, so the button may read slightly differently on your screen. If you can't spot it on the website, try the Facebook app on Android or iPhone, which Facebook's help says is required for some activity log tools such as Manage Activity.

What Hide from profile on Facebook did in the first place

Understanding this saves a lot of worry. Facebook's help centre says Hide from profile removes the post from your profile, not Facebook. So the post never left the site: people it was shared with could still come across it in other places. Delete post is the one that removes something from Facebook entirely, and you can only delete posts you posted yourself.

If you deleted a post by mistake rather than hiding it, check the Trash in your activity log. Facebook's help says items there are deleted automatically after 30 days, so don't leave it too long. Archived posts are another separate area, and my guide on finding archived Facebook posts covers that route.

Unhiding a post on a Facebook Page you manage

If you run a business Page, the steps are clearer, because Facebook's help spells them out:

  1. Go to your Page and open its Activity Log.
  2. Search for or filter by Hidden posts.
  3. Click Unhide (or Add to Page) next to any post you'd like to restore.

You'll need the right access to the Page to see its Activity Log. If you're helping a client, ask them to check your role before you go hunting for the option.

Getting back posts you hid from your Facebook Feed

This is where most people get stuck. Facebook's help says the Not Interested option replaces the old Hide post option in Feed, and posts marked Not Interested aren't stored as hidden posts in your activity log. So there's no list of hidden Feed posts to restore from.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Visit the person's profile, Page or group directly and scroll to the post.
  • If you snoozed someone, Facebook's help says snoozing lasts 30 days and keeps your friend or follow status, so their posts come back on their own after that.
  • If you unfollowed someone, follow them again from their profile.
  • Use your Feed preferences to choose more of the people and Pages you'd like to see.

Tagged Facebook posts that left your profile

Sometimes a post vanishes from your profile because the tag went, not because anything was hidden. Facebook's help says that removing a tag stops the post appearing on your profile, but it's still visible to its audience in places such as Feed and search. To get it back on your profile, the person who posted it would need to tag you again.

If a tagged post is one you'd rather keep away from strangers, it's worth checking who can see your profile at all. My walkthrough on locking your Facebook profile from strangers goes through those settings.

If you can't find the unhide option on Facebook

  • Check you're on the right profile or Page. If you manage several, switch to the one where the post was hidden.
  • Try the other device. Some activity log tools only appear in the Facebook app.
  • Update the Facebook app from your app store.
  • If the post was from someone else, they may have deleted it, changed its audience or removed you from it.

If none of that works and you think something's wrong with your account, Facebook's help centre is the right place to report it.

I keep every related walkthrough in the Facebook Help: 80 Guides to Pages, Groups, Ads, Stories and Fixes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I unhide posts on Facebook?

For your profile, open your activity log and look for things you've hidden from your profile, then show the post again. For a Page, open its Activity Log, filter by Hidden posts and click Unhide or Add to Page.

Where do hidden posts go on Facebook?

Posts hidden from your profile stay on Facebook and show in your activity log. Facebook's help says Hide from profile removes the post from your profile, not Facebook.

Can I unhide a post I hid from my Feed?

Facebook's help says Not Interested replaced Hide post in Feed and those posts aren't stored as hidden posts in your activity log. Visit the person's profile or Page to find it.

Does hiding a post on Facebook delete it?

No. Hiding only takes it off your profile. Delete post removes it from Facebook entirely, and deleted items in Trash are removed for good after 30 days.

Why can't I see the unhide button?

Menus vary by app version, and some activity log tools only work in the Android, iPhone or Facebook Lite app. Try the app and check you're on the right profile or Page.
