How to Delete Comments on TikTok, One at a Time or in Bulk

To delete TikTok comments, tap the Comments button on the post, press and hold the comment and tap Delete. On your own videos you can clear up to 100 at once with Manage multiple comments, but on other people's videos you can only delete comments you wrote yourself.

Comments are where TikTok gets personal. One minute it's friendly chat under your video, the next there's a spam account, a typo you're cringing at, or a reply that's turned nasty. Whether you're a casual poster or you run a business account, knowing how to clear things up quickly keeps your comment section a place people want to join in.

This guide covers deleting your own comments, removing other people's comments from your videos, clearing lots at once, and when to report or block instead. Everything follows TikTok's help article on comments and its guide to reporting them.

Delete one comment on TikTok

The same steps work for a comment you wrote on someone else's video and for any comment left on your own video. In the TikTok app:

  1. Open the post and tap the Comments button on the side.
  2. Find the comment and press and hold on it.
  3. Tap Delete.

That's it. On someone else's video you can only delete comments you've written yourself; on your own posts you can remove anyone's.

Delete lots of TikTok comments at once

If a video has gone a bit wild, deleting one comment at a time is slow. TikTok's help article describes a bulk option for comments on your own posts:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap the Comments button on the side of your post.
  2. Tap the Filters button at the top, or press and hold any comment and tap Manage multiple comments.
  3. Tick the comments you want to remove. You can select up to 100 comments.
  4. Tap Delete and confirm.

For creators who've had a video picked up by the wrong crowd, this is the quickest clean-up tool you've got. Work through in batches if there are more than 100.

Deleting your own TikTok comments on other people's videos

Regretting something you posted under someone else's video? Go back to that post, open Comments, press and hold your comment and tap Delete. It's worth knowing that TikTok may already have nudged you before posting: its help article says that if a comment could be considered inappropriate, a prompt may appear asking whether you want to reconsider. If you posted anyway, deleting it's the cleanest way to take it back.

If you can't find your old comment in a long thread, try scrolling to the replies under the comment you responded to, as replies are tucked under the original.

When to report a TikTok comment instead of deleting it

Deleting removes a comment from your video. Reporting tells TikTok that it breaks the Community Guidelines, which matters for harassment, hate or threats, because it puts the account on TikTok's radar. You can do both: report first, then delete.

To report one comment, press and hold it, tap Report, pick a reason and tap Submit. To report many on your own video, TikTok's report-a-comment help says to press and hold a comment and tap Manage multiple comments (or tap Filters), select up to 100, tap More, then Report comments, and Report to confirm.

If a comment threatens you, report it to TikTok and, if you're in danger, contact the police. Don't argue in the replies.

Stop the same person commenting on your TikTok videos

If the same account keeps coming back, deleting each comment becomes a chore. Blocking stops it at the source. TikTok's help article on comments says that if you block an account, that person can't view your videos or engage with you through direct messages, comments, follows or likes.

Blocking is a bigger step than deleting, so it helps to know what changes on their side. I've set that out in my guide to what happens when you block someone on TikTok.

Managing TikTok comments as a business or creator

For a brand account, the comment section is part of your shop window. A few habits help:

  • Check new comments soon after posting, when the most people are reading them.
  • Delete spam and scam links straight away so followers don't click them.
  • Leave fair criticism up and reply politely; deleting every complaint can look worse than the complaint.
  • Report anything abusive before you delete it, so TikTok has the record.

You can also guide the conversation by pinning a helpful comment to the top, such as an answer to a common question. I've explained how in my piece on pinning a comment on TikTok.

If you can't delete a comment on TikTok

A few things commonly get in the way:

  • You're trying to delete someone else's comment on a video that isn't yours. Only the video's owner can remove those; report it instead.
  • The comment has already been removed by TikTok or its author, but your screen hasn't refreshed. Close and reopen the comments.
  • Your app is out of date. Update TikTok, as menus can move between versions.
  • You're using a browser. TikTok's help article gives the delete steps for the app, so switch to your phone if the option doesn't appear.
