Lovable Prompts: Copy and Paste Ideas to Build Your Site or App

These Lovable prompts help non-coders describe a website or simple app and refine it one step at a time. Copy one, swap the [brackets] for your own details, and review each result. Lovable's own tip is to be structured and scoped, and to build one block at a time.

Lovable is the one in this group that doesn't expect you to touch code. You describe the website or app you want in the chat, Lovable builds it, and you keep talking to change it. If you run a small business, coach, shop or side project and you've been putting off getting a site built, it's a friendly place to start.

The prompts below are written for exactly that: people who know their business but not their way around a code editor. Swap the [brackets] for your own details. Use real wording about your own business rather than invented claims, and never type passwords, API keys or customer data into the chat. If you're still choosing a builder, my list of Lovable alternatives is a good next stop.

Lovable prompts for your first version

Lovable's docs say it responds best to language that's structured, scoped and predictable, so these start with who it's for and the one thing visitors should do.

Describe the whole idea

Copy this prompt

Build a website for [business name], a [type of business] for [who it's for]. They'll visit to [reason], and the one thing I want them to do is [action].

Start with a home page

Copy this prompt

Create a home page with a header, a clear headline about [main benefit], three short benefit cards, a customer quote area and one big button that says [button text].

Use my real wording

Copy this prompt

Use this copy exactly, with no placeholder text: headline [headline], sub-headline [sub-headline], and three benefits: [benefit one], [benefit two], [benefit three].

Choose a look

Copy this prompt

Give the whole site a [warm and friendly, minimal or bold] feel with plenty of white space, rounded buttons and a colour palette based on [colour].

Ask questions first

Copy this prompt

I want a [type of site or app]. Before you build anything, ask me every question you need so you fully understand what I want.

Lovable prompts for adding pages and sections

Lovable suggests building one block at a time, then reviewing it before you move on. That's much easier to fix than re-prompting a whole page.

Add an about page

Copy this prompt

Add an About page with a short story section, a photo placeholder for me, and a list of what I stand for: [value one], [value two], [value three].

Add a services section

Copy this prompt

Add a services section to the home page with one card for each of: [service one], [service two], [service three]. Each card has a title, two lines of text and a link.

Add a contact form

Copy this prompt

Add a contact page with a form asking for name, email and message, a clear success message after sending, and a friendly error message if something's missing.

Add frequently asked questions

Copy this prompt

Add an FAQ section that opens and closes, with these questions and answers: [question and answer one], [question and answer two], [question and answer three].

Add a footer

Copy this prompt

Add a footer with my business name, three links to [pages], and social icons for [platforms]. Keep it simple and match the rest of the site.

Lovable prompts for turning your site into a working app

Once the look is right, you can ask for features. Lovable's docs advise designing for logged-in and logged-out views, plus empty, loading and error states.

Add a sign-in area

Copy this prompt

Add a sign-in and sign-up flow. Logged-out visitors see [what they see], and logged-in visitors see a dashboard with [what they see].

Build a simple booking page

Copy this prompt

Create a booking page where visitors choose a date and time for [service] and enter their name and email. Show a confirmation screen when they finish.

Create a small dashboard

Copy this prompt

Build a dashboard showing [three things I want to track] as simple cards, with a friendly message when there's no data yet.

Build a searchable list

Copy this prompt

Build a list of [items, for example recipes or clients] where I can add, edit and delete entries, search by name and filter by [category].

Handle the in-between moments

Copy this prompt

For every page that loads data, add a loading message, an empty-state message that says what to do next, and a clear error message if something goes wrong.

Lovable prompts for fixing and polishing

Lovable recommends one meaningful change at a time, and saying what must stay the same.

Change just one thing

Copy this prompt

On the [page name] page, make the main button bigger and change its colour to [colour]. Don't change anything else on the page.

Fix a bug with a screenshot

Copy this prompt

Here's a screenshot of what's wrong on [page]. The expected behaviour is [what should happen]. Find the cause, fix it and don't touch other pages.

Make it mobile-friendly

Copy this prompt

Check every page on a phone-sized screen. Fix text that's too small, buttons too close together and anything that overlaps or runs off the edge.

Improve the headings

Copy this prompt

Rewrite the headings on the home page so they're short and specific to [audience]. Show me the old and new versions side by side before you apply them.

Tighten the spacing

Copy this prompt

Make the spacing and font sizes consistent across the site so each page feels like it belongs to the same brand. List what you changed.

How to get better results from Lovable prompts

  • Answer four questions before you start, as Lovable suggests: what the product is, who it's for, why they'll use it, and the one key action.
  • Name things precisely. Cards, badges, toggles, form fields and modals give Lovable more to work with than "a nice interface".
  • Say where a change goes and what must stay untouched. Lovable's docs call that a good change prompt.
  • Try Plan mode for bigger ideas. Lovable says the chat can switch between Build, which changes your project, and Plan, which discusses and plans without touching your code.
  • Save good versions before a big redesign, so you can go back if you don't like the result.

Frequently asked questions

What are Lovable prompts?

They're the messages you type into Lovable's chat to describe the site or app you want and the changes you'd like. The more specific you make them, the closer the first result lands.

Do I need to know how to code to use Lovable?

No, you describe what you want in everyday language. You should still check the result carefully, especially anything involving sign-ins or customer information.

What's the difference between Build and Plan?

Lovable's chat has a toggle: Build makes changes directly in your project, while Plan discusses and plans without touching your code. You can switch between them at any time.

Should I give Lovable real text or placeholder text?

Real text. Lovable's docs say real copy shows intent and reveals layout problems early.

Should I paste passwords or API keys into Lovable's chat?

No. Keep secrets out of prompts and never share customer data in the chat.
