No, Nigeria isn't on TikTok's published list of TikTok Shop regions, so there's no Nigerian seller registration. Nigerian creators can still build an audience on TikTok and earn through brand deals and their own sales channels.
People type this question in Nigeria meaning three different things: can I open a shop, can I buy from one, and can I earn commission by promoting products. The answer to the first is clear from TikTok's own seller site. The other two need a more careful reply, so I'll take them one at a time and say where the evidence runs out.
Sell: no Nigerian seller registration exists
TikTok's seller site has a region menu, and Nigeria isn't on it. The menu names three markets in the Americas, eight in Asia (plus a separate Global Selling site) and nine in Europe. Without a Nigerian entry there's no Nigerian registration page, no list of local documents, and no schedule for paying a Nigerian shop in naira.
The wording matters. I'm saying Nigeria isn't on TikTok's published list of regions. I'm not saying TikTok has blocked Nigerians for good, and I couldn't find an official TikTok statement about plans either way.
If someone in a WhatsApp group or on a video says they can register you as a TikTok Shop seller in Nigeria for a fee, stop and ask for the official page that lists your country. TikTok publishes the region menu itself. Anyone who can't point to that page is guessing at best.
Earn: what the affiliate route needs
TikTok describes the Shop affiliate route like this: creators collect rewards from products sold through their videos, LIVE and product showcase, without holding inventory, and it's for people aged 18 and over. That route sits on top of a working shop in the market, because there has to be a seller and a checkout. With Nigeria off the menu, I wouldn't plan on affiliate commission from Nigerian shoppers.
What I can't tell you is what happens when a Nigerian creator promotes a product from a listed country. TikTok's pages I could read don't address it, so I've left it open rather than invent an answer.
Creator Rewards: also not available in Nigeria
People often fold this into the Shop question, so I'll treat it separately. The Creator Rewards Program, which pays for qualified views on longer videos, is open in eight countries, and Nigeria isn't one of them. TikTok says you must be based in a listed country with an account registered there.
In 2025, Boniswa Sidwaba of TikTok Sub-Saharan Africa told ITWeb it's wrong to claim Africa has been deliberately excluded. The same article notes that there is no Creator Fund for African creators. So a screenshot showing a Nigerian account with a view-based payout deserves a question about where the account is registered.
Money: getting naira into your account
The naira (NGN) is Nigeria's currency, issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria and divided into 100 kobo. Because no Nigerian TikTok Shop exists, I can't describe a payout cycle for it. If an overseas brand pays you for a video instead, the payment arrives through whatever method you agree, and the conversion into naira depends on your bank or payment provider.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Ask what rate and fees apply before you accept a dollar-priced job.
- Put the amount, currency and payment date in writing.
- Keep a record of each payment so a Nigerian accountant can deal with tax. TikTok's pages don't explain your tax position.
LIVE gifts: check your own account
TikTok's LIVE page says you must be 18 or meet the age of majority in your country. Viewers send Gifts, creators collect Diamonds, and cash goes to an external bank or PayPal account depending on region. That last phrase is the one to focus on. I couldn't find an official page saying whether Nigeria is enabled, so look in Creator Tools. If the option isn't there, no amount of followers will switch it on.
Practical routes for Nigerian sellers and creators
- Use TikTok to build an audience, and take orders in a place you control, such as WhatsApp or your own website.
- Pitch Nigerian businesses for paid videos. You set the fee and the payment terms directly.
- Try other platforms where Africa-based creators are paid. My guide to what TikTok pays per 1,000 views in South Africa is a useful comparison from elsewhere in Africa.
- Check TikTok's region menu from time to time. A Nigerian entry would be the first official sign.
If you want to see how a listed country works, I've covered TikTok Shop in Poland, where individuals and registered businesses follow separate paths. And for another West African case with its own payment story, there's TikTok Shop in Ghana.
