Movie blogs that accept guest posts are a small niche with some very strong sites in it. On my list, re-checked live in September 2026, 16 sites are tagged movies: 14 were live and 10 had a domain authority of 40 or more. Examples include cbr.com, wegotthiscovered.com and culturedvultures.com. Check each site's current guidelines before you pitch.

Film sites live on reviews, lists, analysis and news, and many of them grew by taking contributions from fans and critics. Some still run open calls for writers; others now hire contributors and expect a sample first.

The readers are passionate and quick to spot a writer who hasn't seen the film. That's what decides whether a movie pitch gets read.

This page pulls the movie sites out of my free list of websites that accept guest posts, which I re-checked site by site in September 2026.

How many movie blogs on my list still accept guest posts?

2 of the 16 movie sites were dead or parked, so 14 are worth a look. More than half of the live sites (10 of 14) had a domain authority of 40 or more. Several of the live sites are big entertainment publishers that work with regular contributors rather than one-off guest posts.

Which movie blogs accept guest posts?

Twelve live movie sites from my list, with their domain authority when I checked:

  • cbr.com: DA 86
  • wegotthiscovered.com: DA 82
  • culturedvultures.com: DA 73
  • tasteofcinema.com: DA 67
  • filminquiry.com: DA 58
  • cineaste.com: DA 50
  • nofspodcast.com: DA 47
  • readysteadycut.com: DA 41
  • highonfilms.com: DA 39
  • borrowingtape.com: DA 39
  • themoviebuff.net: DA 30
  • filmspell.com: DA 22

The category includes a TV channel's site and a personal development brand with movie in its name, which I've left out of the examples. Guidelines change, so read each site's current write for us page before you pitch.

Reviews, lists, criticism or industry?

Film sites want very different posts:

  • Fan and list sites want ranked lists, explainers and takes on new releases.
  • Criticism and essay sites want close readings of films, directors and genres.
  • Review blogs want quick, opinionated reviews of new and older films.
  • Podcast and community sites want discussion pieces that start a conversation.

Streaming services, film schools and entertainment brands fit best on the list and review sites. Critics and academics are better placed on the essay sites.

What do film editors want?

Knowledge. Film editors want writers who know the work, the people behind it and the context. A list that repeats what every other site has said won't get a second look.

They also want timing. Pitch new release coverage before the release date, and seasonal lists weeks before the season, not on the day.

Free guest post or sponsored post on a movie blog?

Many film sites take free contributions from writers with a good sample, and some turn regular contributors into staff writers later. Sponsored posts are possible on the smaller sites, as long as they're about film.

How do you check a movie blog before you pitch?

  • Search site:domain.com. If very few pages come up, move on.
  • Read the three newest posts. Is the site still publishing, and who writes for it?
  • Check how they publish writers. Some sites want a one-off post; others only take contributors who commit to regular posts.
  • Find a name. A real editor you can email beats a form that never replies.
  • Ask if posts are permanent. Some sites prune old content in clean-ups.

My free domain authority checker gives you a quick read on a site's strength, and these guest post pitch examples show what editors say yes to. Film overlaps with wider entertainment and music, so my entertainment blogs that accept guest posts and music blogs that accept guest posts pages are worth a look.

How should you pitch a movie blog?

Lead with the angle, not the film. "Why quiet endings are coming back in horror" is a pitch. "A review of a horror film" is one of a hundred the editor got today.

Show your writing. A link to a review or essay you've published says more about you than any description.

Keep the link relevant. A link to a streaming guide, a film course or your own film podcast is easy to approve when it suits the post.

My advice

Sell the editor an angle they haven't run, and send it early. In film, being first with a good idea matters more than being the biggest name in the inbox.

Can you place a movie post on my blog?

Only when it's about marketing: film marketing, promoting a film or channel on social media, or building an audience as a creator. lilachbullock.com is a marketing blog that's been publishing since the dial-up days, with thousands of indexed articles, and my readers are business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs, mostly in the USA and the UK. Reviews and criticism suit the sites above. Guidelines are on my entertainment and hobbies write for us page.

How placing a post on my blog works

  1. Email [email protected], or start on my write for me page, with your target URL, topic and niche.
  2. I reply with whether it fits and which format I'd pick: a new sponsored post or a link insertion into an existing, indexed article.
  3. You send the article, or I choose the right existing article for your link.
  4. I edit, publish and send you the live URL.

Accepted posts usually go live within 24 to 48 hours of everything being agreed. Placements are permanent, and if you're an agency, I never contact your client.

If you're weighing up where to place a post, how buying a guest post on my blog works explains what you get and what I turn down.
