Music blogs that accept guest posts range from big magazines to tiny genre blogs. On my list, re-checked live in September 2026, 50 sites are tagged music: 39 were live and 19 had a domain authority of 40 or more. Examples include pastemagazine.com, exclaim.ca and wideopencountry.com. Check each site's current guidelines before you pitch.

Music blogs have always run on passion. Most are started by fans who want to write about the bands, genres and gear they love, and many still accept writing from other fans. That makes them open to guest contributors, but it also means they can smell a link-led pitch from a mile away.

Businesses that sell to musicians and music fans want to be here too: instrument shops, music schools, streaming tools, event promoters and audio software companies. The trick is finding the sites whose readers match what you offer.

This page pulls the music sites out of my free list of websites that accept guest posts, which I re-checked site by site in September 2026.

More than one in five music sites was dead or parked. Music blogs are often run by one or two people, and when they move on, the blog stops. Just under half of the live sites had a domain authority of 40 or more.

Which music blogs accept guest posts?

Twelve live music sites from my list, with their domain authority when I checked:

  • pastemagazine.com: DA 89
  • exclaim.ca: DA 81
  • wideopencountry.com: DA 71
  • covermesongs.com: DA 55
  • cmuse.org: DA 54
  • wundergroundmusic.com: DA 51
  • decodedmagazine.com: DA 46
  • goldenplec.com: DA 46
  • guitarhabits.com: DA 45
  • zmemusic.com: DA 45
  • spillmagazine.com: DA 42
  • planetdj.com: DA 38

The category also includes a few very large general publishers that cover music among many other topics, which I've left out of the examples. Guidelines change, so read each site's current write for us page before you pitch.

Reviews, gear or the music business?

Music sites fall into groups that want very different posts:

  • Review and culture sites want album reviews, interviews and features on artists and scenes.
  • Learning and gear sites want lessons, practice tips and reviews of instruments and equipment.
  • DJ and production sites want posts on software, mixing, recording and live sets.
  • Music business sites want posts on promotion, streaming, touring and getting paid.

Instrument shops and music schools fit best on learning sites. Promotion tools and services for artists belong on the music business sites, where a business angle is the point.

What do music editors want?

Taste and knowledge. Music editors want writers who know the genre, use the right terms and have opinions they can back up. A review that could be about any album, or a gear post that reads like a spec sheet, won't get through.

They also want something their readers can't get elsewhere: an interview, a behind-the-scenes look at a studio, a lesson from someone who teaches for a living. If you're a musician or work in the industry, lead with that, because it's your strongest card.

Free guest post or sponsored post on a music blog?

Free posts are common on smaller music blogs, especially reviews and features from fans. The bigger magazines commission their own writers and are hard to get into. Sponsored posts are faster and more predictable for brands, though some music editors only accept them for gear and services, not for reviews.

How do you check a music blog before you pitch?

  • Search site:domain.com. If very few pages come up, move on.
  • Read the three newest posts. Is the site still publishing, and who writes for it?
  • Check the genre. A hip hop blog and a classical music site have almost no readers in common, so make sure yours fits.
  • Find a name. A real editor you can email beats a form that never replies.
  • Ask if posts are permanent. Some sites prune old content in clean-ups.

There's more in how to check backlink quality and my guide to high DA guest posting sites. Music often overlaps with the wider creative world, so my art blogs that accept guest posts and lifestyle blogs that accept guest posts pages are worth a look too.

How should you pitch a music blog?

Pitch the story, not the subject. "Why the bedroom producers behind three chart hits all use the same cheap microphone" is a pitch. "An article about microphones" is not. Add two backup ideas and a line on your music background.

If you're pitching for a brand, say so up front, and keep the product in its place. Music readers are happy to hear about a useful tool, but they'll switch off if the post feels like an advert, and so will the editor.

Can you place a music post on my blog?

Sometimes, when it has a business angle: marketing for musicians, promoting a gig or a release, or running a music school or studio as a business. lilachbullock.com is a marketing blog that's been publishing since the dial-up days, with thousands of indexed articles, and my readers are business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs, mostly in the USA and the UK. Reviews and lessons suit the sites above better. Guidelines are on my music page.

How placing a post on my blog works

  1. Email [email protected], or start on my write for me page, with your target URL, topic and niche.
  2. I reply with whether it fits and which format I'd pick: a new sponsored post or a link insertion into an existing, indexed article.
  3. You send the article, or I choose the right existing article for your link.
  4. I edit, publish and send you the live URL.

Accepted posts usually go live within 24 to 48 hours of everything being agreed. Placements are permanent. I invoice by PayPal, and if you're an agency, I never contact your client.

If you're weighing up where to place a post, how buying a guest post on my blog works explains what you get and what I turn down.
