Otterly Alternatives (2026): 9 AI Visibility Trackers

The best tracker to move to depends on why you've outgrown your first one: you may need enterprise scale, prompts built around customer personas, checks on what AI answers get wrong about you, or AI tracking inside a full SEO suite. Pick the tool built for that reason, then compare engines and prompt coverage.

Otterly tracks how a brand shows up across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, records the domains and URLs those answers cite, and includes a GEO audit. For a lot of brands, that's a fair place to start.

People move on for specific reasons, not because the tool stops working. Below are nine alternatives in no particular order, grouped by the reason you might switch. Otterly itself isn't a row, and none of the tools is linked.

Five reasons brands outgrow their first AI visibility tracker

You need enterprise scale. Profound pairs prompt visibility with agents that act on it, in a shared workbench for marketing teams. Brandlight spans measurement, impact tracking, attribution, content, AI ads and AI commerce, so it's pitched at large brands that want one platform for all of it.

You run many brands or markets. Rankscale is built for agencies and multi-brand teams, and says every AI engine is included with no upsell. That's the vendor's claim, so check the engine list for the plan you'd be on.

You want prompts written like real customers. Gumshoe organises prompts around personas and topics, with separate audits for visibility, content, sentiment, citations and technical GEO.

You worry about what AI gets wrong about you. Waikay analyses AI responses for hallucinations and missing knowledge, with a fact tracker and an entity map alongside brand visibility.

You want help acting on the data, or a full SEO suite. AthenaHQ leads with agents that act on gaps in AI search. XFunnel adds tailored playbooks, a dedicated analyst and an experimentation platform. AirOps and Search Atlas are broader than monitoring: the first works with brands on an AI discovery strategy and argues for measuring market share in AI answers, and the second puts AI tracking inside an SEO suite that automates content and technical fixes.

Why a visibility score is a sample, not a count of searches

Most of these tools work the same way underneath. You choose a fixed set of prompts, the tool runs them through the AI engines on a schedule, and it reports what came back. That's useful, but answers change from one run to the next and from one engine to another, so the score you see is a sample of answers, not a count of real people searching.

That changes what you should compare. Before you switch, check how many prompts each plan covers and which engines it runs them on. Then check whether it records the URLs an answer cites, not only whether your brand was named. Being named without a cited page tells you far less about where the answer came from, and what you could improve.

It also means small swings from week to week are often noise. Look for trends across several runs before you rewrite a page because one answer changed.

My advice if you're moving off Otterly

Start from the reason you're leaving, not from the feature lists, because every tool here can show you a chart. If your gap is scale, shortlist the enterprise platforms. If it's persona prompts or fact-checking, the smaller specialists are built for that job. If you want AI tracking and SEO work in one login, go for a suite and accept that monitoring is only one part of it.

Keep the prompt set identical across any trial, so the comparison is fair. For more options, see my roundup of Peec AI alternatives, and once the new tool is running, my guide on measuring the return on AI search visibility helps you decide whether the work is paying off.

A two-week trial plan for comparing trackers

  1. Write a set of prompts your customers would type, mixing brand, category and comparison questions.
  2. Run the same set in your current setup and in two shortlisted trackers for two weeks.
  3. Note which engines each one covers and whether it records the cited URLs.
  4. Where the trackers disagree, check those answers by hand in the engines themselves.
  5. Decide on the reason you started with, not on whichever dashboard looks busiest.

Two weeks is enough to see whether the trends agree. If they don't, that's useful too: it tells you how much of any score is noise, and how much weight to give it in your reports.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI visibility tracker do?

It runs a set of prompts through AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and reports whether your brand is named, how it's described and which sources the answers cite.

Why do AI visibility scores change from week to week?

AI engines don't give the same answer every time, and each engine answers differently. A score is a sample of those answers, so look at trends across several runs rather than one result.

Should I track cited URLs or brand mentions?

Both if you can. A mention tells you that you were named; a cited URL tells you which page the engine drew on, which is the part you can improve.

Is an SEO suite with AI tracking better than a dedicated tracker?

It depends on your team. A suite keeps SEO and AI work in one place, while a dedicated tracker usually goes deeper on prompts, engines and answer analysis.

How do I choose prompts to track?

Use the questions real customers ask: brand questions, category questions and comparisons with competitors. Keep the set the same over time so changes reflect the engines, not your prompt list.
