Telegram gives channel owners 50% of the revenue from the ads shown in their channels, and you cash it out as cryptocurrency through Fragment to a TON wallet you control. Telegram publishes no per-view rate: the ads appear in channels over 1000 subscribers in the countries where Telegram shows them, and the money builds in a balance only the channel owner can withdraw.
That's the core of Telegram monetisation for channel owners. The detail matters, though, because a lot of what's written about it skips the conditions. This page is based on Telegram's own pages: the Telegram Ads site, the developer pages on ad revenue and Stars, and the Terms of Service, all read on 2 November 2026. It's accurate as of November 2026.
What the 50% ad revenue share is
The Telegram Ads site puts it in one line: 50% of the revenue from Telegram Ads goes to the owners of the channels where they're displayed. Telegram's developer page says the same thing and adds bots, so channel and bot owners can both receive 50% of the revenue from ads shown in their channels and bots.
These are Telegram's own ads, bought by advertisers on its ad platform. An advertiser types up to 160 characters, adds a Telegram link to promote and chooses the channels to show it in. You don't negotiate with them or approve them; Telegram places the ads and shares the revenue with you.
What Telegram doesn't say is how much an ad view is worth. There's no per-view figure, no per-1,000 figure and no earnings example on any of the pages I read. If you see a confident number for Telegram earnings somewhere, it didn't come from Telegram.
Which channels get ads
This is where most channels fall out of the picture. Telegram's Terms of Service say that in certain countries, Telegram shows promoted messages in one-to-many channels that have over 1000 subscribers. So two conditions apply at once:
- Your channel needs over 1000 subscribers.
- The ads only appear in certain countries. Telegram doesn't list them on the pages I read.
There's a third thing that narrows it. Subscribers to Telegram Premium don't see these ads, so the part of your audience paying for Premium can't generate ad revenue for you.
And advertisers choose. The ad platform lets them pick the specific channels where their ads appear, so the context is relevant to them. A channel can meet every condition and still see few ads if advertisers aren't choosing it. Telegram doesn't promise any channel a set number of ads.
If you're under 1000 subscribers, or your audience is mostly in places where the ads don't run, there's nothing to share yet. The quickest way to find out is to look at the channel's Monetization tab, which shows whether there's any revenue data at all.
Telegram's ads, Stars and your own brand deals
People mix these three up all the time, and they work completely differently.
| Telegram ad revenue share | Telegram Stars | Your own brand deals | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who pays | Advertisers on Telegram's ad platform | Your audience, through paid reactions, gifts, paid media and more | A brand that comes to you directly |
| Who sets the price | Telegram and its advertisers; you get 50% | Telegram's Stars system | You and the brand |
| Where it shows | The channel's Monetization tab | The channel's balance and Stars revenue statistics | Outside Telegram's systems |
| How you withdraw | Owner only, via Fragment, to a TON wallet | Withdraw Stars as Gram, or spend them on ads for the channel | However you agree with the brand |
Telegram's Terms make the third column clear: admins can publish their own content with third-party promotions, and those posts aren't part of Telegram's ad platform. Premium subscribers still see them. If you want the full picture on the second column, my explainer on how Telegram Stars work covers it.
How to see your balance and withdraw it
Telegram's developer documentation describes how withdrawal works, and it lines up with what you'll see in the app. Here's the sequence:
- Make sure you're the owner. Admins with access can view revenue statistics, but only the channel or bot owner can withdraw.
- Open the channel's Monetization tab. It shows the balance, the transaction history and revenue statistics, including ad impressions over time.
- Check that withdrawal is enabled. You can only withdraw when the balance is at or above Telegram's minimum and withdrawal is switched on for your channel. Telegram doesn't print the minimum on the pages I read, so go by what the tab tells you.
- Set up two-step verification. The withdrawal asks for your account's 2FA password, so switch it on in your privacy settings first if you haven't.
- Start the withdrawal. Telegram returns a link to a Fragment page.
- Enter your TON wallet address on Fragment. That's where the funds are sent, so use a wallet you control and double-check the address.
- Check the transaction history. The Monetization tab records the withdrawal alongside your other transactions.
One naming quirk to expect. The Telegram Ads site says advertisers pay with Gram, a cryptocurrency Telegram uses, while the developer pages count ad revenue in nanograms and send withdrawals to a TON wallet through Fragment. The names differ between pages, so follow the wallet prompt on Fragment rather than worrying about the label.
Because you're paid in cryptocurrency, any exchange fees and your local tax rules are your own business to check before you cash out.

The trade-off with boosts
There's a setting that cuts against the revenue share, and it's worth knowing before you grow. Telegram's developer page says that once a channel reaches a boost level set by Telegram, the owner can switch ads off on the channel for all users.
That's a choice, not a penalty. Some owners would rather their channel stayed ad-free. But if you switch ads off, that ad revenue stops, so treat it as a decision about which matters more to you and your subscribers.
What Telegram doesn't tell you
I'd rather be plain about the gaps than fill them with guesses. On the pages I read, Telegram doesn't publish:
- Any per-view, per-impression or per-1,000 rate.
- Any example of what a channel has earned.
- The list of countries where it shows ads.
- The minimum balance you need before you can withdraw.
None of that means the programme isn't worth having. It means you can't plan around a number until your own Monetization tab gives you one. For the wider set of options, from paid media to brand deals, there's my roundup of ways to earn money on Telegram. And if you'd rather run ads on Telegram yourself, that's a different job, covered in my guide to Telegram Ads.
My verdict
I'd check the Monetization tab before planning anything, because it's the only place that'll tell you whether your channel is seeing ads and what they're paying. Skip any course or video selling Telegram ad revenue as passive income. It isn't guaranteed, it depends on country and advertiser choice, and Telegram doesn't publish a rate for anyone to promise you.
If you're under 1000 subscribers, the share isn't your problem yet. Grow the channel with content people want to forward, and come back to the tab when you're over the line.
