Wix Payments: Setup, Account Status, Payout Schedules and Switching

Wix Payments is Wix's own payment provider, so your site can take cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and other methods without a third-party gateway, with payouts, refunds and chargebacks in one dashboard. You connect it from Accept Payments in your site's dashboard, and you need a published site on a Premium or Studio plan that allows payments.

The deadline is the part to remember. From the first transaction on your site, you have 30 days to finish account setup and verification. Miss it and your Wix Payments account is suspended, and while it's suspended you can't receive payments or process refunds. There's a second trap later on: every time you edit your account details, your status drops back to Accepting Payments while Wix re-verifies you, and payouts stop until that's done.

Where Wix Payments is available

As of October 2026, Wix Payments is available in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Some overseas territories and dependencies aren't covered even when they're linked to a supported country, and Wix names the Åland Islands and the Isle of Man as examples. If you're not eligible, you can take payments through a third-party provider instead.

The cards it accepts are Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, Diners, CUP, JCB and Maestro. Affirm, Afterpay, iDEAL and Klarna depend on your location. You can also connect other providers alongside it for methods such as ACH.

Creating your account

  1. Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard and click Connect next to Wix Payments.
  2. Switch on the payment methods you want and click Continue.
  3. Click Complete Setup and choose your business type: individual or sole proprietorship, or a partnership, company, corporation or NGO.
  4. Enter your identification, address, bank details, business information and business description.
  5. Accept the terms and service fees, then click Submit.
  6. Complete the verification process Wix asks for.

What your account status means

StatusWhat it means, as of October 2026
PendingConnected, but you can't take payments yet. Publish your site and upgrade to a plan that accepts payments.
Accepting PaymentsCustomers can pay, but you can't receive payouts until setup and verification are complete.
ActiveTaking payments and receiving payouts. Wix can still ask for verification later.
SuspendedSetup or verification wasn't finished within 30 days. No payments or refunds until you complete it.
ClosedWix found the site doesn't comply with its Terms of Use or sells prohibited products or services.
BlockedFraudulent activity was confirmed. You can't accept payments.

To check yours, go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard and look at the status next to the payment method. A suspended account can be reactivated by completing the setup or verification it was missing.

How a sale becomes a payout

Each payment goes through three stages. First it's processed, which usually takes 2-5 business days: the settlement period of 1-2 days runs alongside a pending period that Wix uses to guard against fraud. Then it joins your next scheduled payout. Once sent, it should reach your bank within 3-5 business days. Your very first payout can only be scheduled after verification, and it's typically available around 7 days after your first payment.

You pick one schedule for all your Wix Payments methods. Daily payouts include transactions before the cut-off, which is 6AM EST for the US and Canada and 6AM GMT for Europe. Weekly payouts go every Monday unless you choose another day, and monthly payouts go on the 1st unless you choose another date, landing on the last day in months with fewer than 29 days. Payouts follow your site's time zone, not your computer's.

  1. Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Manage next to Wix Payments and scroll to Payout schedule.
  3. Tick Daily, Weekly or Monthly, choose a day if needed, and click Save.

Reserves and holds

Wix can hold back part of your payouts as a reserve to cover chargebacks and refunds. A rolling reserve keeps a percentage of each payout for a set number of days before releasing it, and you're told by email when one changes your payout policy. A one-time reserve holds a specific amount once, then releases it. Payouts on hold are added to your next scheduled payout once the issue blocking them is fixed. You can still open your Wix Payments dashboard even after disconnecting the account.

Switching from another provider

  1. Go to Accept Payments and click Connect next to Wix Payments.
  2. Click Yes, Switch to confirm the new provider.
  3. Choose Create an Account if you're new, or Connect Existing Account if you already have one.
  4. Finish account setup so payouts can reach your bank.

If your bank or address changes later, edit it under Manage and then Edit Account Details, but time it carefully. The re-verification can take up to 7 business days, and payouts collected during that window are released once it's complete.

My verdict on Wix Payments

I'd use it if you're in one of the supported countries and your shop or bookings already run on Wix, because having orders, refunds and payouts in one dashboard saves you jumping between tools. Finish verification the same week you connect it, not on day 29. And I'd avoid editing bank or business details right before a busy period, since that resets your status and pauses payouts. If you're still weighing up a store, start with Wix Stores, and if you'd rather keep an outside provider, here's Stripe or PayPal compared.

Payout tracking and verification reminders are small jobs that are easy to forget and easy to automate. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
