Concur Alternatives (2026): 10 Expense and Travel Tools

Concur alternatives come in three kinds: expense-first tools that turn receipts into reports, platforms that combine business travel booking with expenses, and spend control platforms built around company cards. Most small and mid-sized finance teams only need the first kind, so decide early whether you need travel booking at all. Ten options follow in no particular order.

Expense reports shouldn't eat a week of month-end. If you're searching for Concur alternatives, you probably want something quicker for your team. The tools below all handle receipts and approvals, but they differ on travel booking, company cards and how they connect to your accounts.

The ten tools are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026.

How the Concur alternatives line up

I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Two new names, a rebrand and the travel question

Here's what stood out reading the vendor pages. Sage Expense Management is the name now on Fyle's own page, Expensya's French site says it's becoming Medius Expense with the same product under a new name, and Rydoo's page carries a story explaining its rebrand. If an older shortlist looks out of date, that's why.

The travel split shows in the page titles. Navan calls itself a corporate travel management platform and Zoho Expense an AI-native travel and expense tool, while Ramp's UK page leads with corporate cards and accounting automation.

Expense-first, travel and expense, or cards first?

  • Expense-first tools. Receipts, mileage and approvals turned into reports and synced to your accounts. They're the quickest swap and often work with the cards you already have.
  • Travel plus expense. Booking flights and hotels inside policy, with the trip flowing straight into the expense report. It's only worth it if your people travel often.
  • Spend control platforms. Company cards with limits set before money goes out, plus procurement and supplier invoices. They suit finance teams that want to stop overspending before it happens rather than chase receipts after.

Questions finance should answer before switching from Concur

  1. How often do your people travel? If it's rare, you probably don't need a booking tool.
  2. Do you want new company cards? Some platforms are built around their own cards, others connect to the cards you already use.
  3. Which accounting software must it sync with? Check the integration list on the vendor's own site.
  4. Who approves what? Map your approval chain and policy rules first, then see which tool can enforce them.
  5. Do you also process supplier invoices? A few of these tools handle accounts payable too, which can replace a second system.

My plain advice on choosing a Concur alternative

Be honest about travel. If your people rarely travel, an expense-first tool will do everything you need with far less setup, and staff will submit receipts on time because it's easy. If travel is a big part of the business, a platform that books trips inside policy saves finance chasing approvals after the fact. And if overspending is the real problem, pick a card-first platform that sets limits before the money goes out. Run one month's claims through your shortlist before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best alternative to Concur?

It depends on how much your team travels. Expense-first tools suit companies that mostly need receipts and approvals, travel and expense platforms suit frequent travellers, and card-first platforms suit teams that want spend controls.

Do I need a travel booking tool as well as expense software?

Only if your people travel often. Travel platforms let staff book within policy and send the trip straight into the expense report. If trips are rare, an expense-first tool is enough.

Can I keep my existing company cards?

Often, yes. Some expense tools connect to the cards you already use, while spend control platforms are built around issuing their own cards. Check the vendor's own site before you switch.

Are there Concur alternatives for UK businesses?

Yes. At least one card and expense platform on this list runs a dedicated UK site built for UK finance teams, and others list global compliance tools. Check availability in your country on the vendor's site.

What's the difference between expense management and spend management?

Expense management handles claims after the money's gone: receipts, mileage and approvals. Spend management adds controls before the purchase, such as company cards with limits and approval for purchases.
