ShipStation alternatives come in three kinds: label and rate tools that print discounted carrier labels, checkout tools that show live shipping rates to shoppers, and warehouse systems that add stock control and picking. Most online sellers only need the first kind, so start there and compare the ten options below.
Most people looking for a ShipStation replacement want one of two things: labels printed faster, or orders and stock in one place. Those are different products, and mixing them up is how a small seller ends up with a warehouse system when all they needed was quicker labels.
The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. For a wider look at the category, my guide to shipping software for small business is a good companion.
ShipStation alternatives at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Ten shipping tools to consider instead of ShipStation
EasyPost
Best for: Developers who'd rather build shipping into their own software through an API, with insurance across 100+ carriers and claims filed from one dashboard.
Packlink
Best for: Small sellers who want to compare reputable carriers and book parcels without registering, then move to the PRO tool for multi-carrier shipping as orders grow.
Pirate Ship
Best for: US sellers on Etsy, eBay or their own store who ship mostly with UPS and USPS and want discounted labels from software the vendor describes as free.
Sendcloud
Best for: European e-commerce businesses that want courier choice and shipping automations without becoming logistics experts, with a 14-day free trial to start.
ShipHero
Best for: Brands running their own warehouse that want pack-to-light packing stations, which guide packers with LEDs, alongside picking and automatic carrier label choice.
ShipperHQ
Best for: Online stores that want full control over the rates, carriers, shipping rules and delivery dates their shoppers see at checkout.
ShippingEasy
Best for: Sellers shipping domestic and international orders who want discounts on carriers like UPS, USPS and GlobalPost in simple label software.
Shippo
Best for: Small businesses that want to connect their stores, compare rates from 40+ global carriers and print labels without any integration work.
Shopify Shipping
Best for: Shopify merchants who'd rather keep labels inside the platform, including buying labels at point of sale to ship from in-person stores.
Zenventory
Best for: Third-party logistics firms that configure inventory, billing rules, fulfilment workflows and client portal access separately for each client, from one dashboard.
ShipEngine now opens the ShipStation home page
One thing caught me out reading these sites. The ShipEngine address now loads the ShipStation home page, titled Shipping Software for Ecommerce Fulfillment, so it isn't a separate alternative any more and it's not on this list. Elsewhere, Pirate Ship's page title calls it free UPS and USPS shipping software, and EasyPost's page says two more carriers, GOFO and Veho, have joined its Wallet.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Zenventory is the other one to read carefully. Its title is 3PL WMS with Billing and Shipping Built In, which makes it a warehouse system first and a label tool second.
Once the label is printed, customers want to follow the parcel, and our list of order tracking apps for Shopify shows which ones handle that for you.
Labels only, or stock control too?
- Labels and rates. You connect your store, compare carriers and print labels. This is what most small sellers need, and it's where most tools on this list sit.
- Rates at checkout. A checkout tool decides which shipping options and delivery dates a shopper sees before they buy. It sits alongside a label tool rather than replacing one.
- Warehouse and stock. A warehouse management system adds picking, packing, inventory and, for 3PLs, client billing. Choose this if your problem is the shelf, not the label.
If your store runs on Shopify, our guide to Shopify shipping apps covers the rate and label apps that plug straight into it.
Questions to answer before you switch shipping tools
- Which carriers do you use most? A tool built around UPS and USPS won't help a seller shipping mostly in Europe, and the reverse is true too.
- Where do your orders come from? Check that your store platforms and selling channels connect without custom work.
- Do you need insurance and claims? Some tools file claims from the same dashboard as your labels.
- Who packs the orders? If it's a team in a warehouse, a WMS will matter more than label speed.
- How many people need access? Count the logins you'll need before you compare plans.

My plain advice on leaving ShipStation
Write down the one job you want the new tool to do better. If it's labels, choose two label tools that support your main carrier, run a week of real orders through each and keep the one your packer prefers. If it's stock, look at a warehouse system instead, because a faster label tool won't fix a shelf that's out of sync.
And if you're rethinking the store itself, my guide to Shopify alternatives walks through the platforms these tools plug into.

Frequently asked questions
Is ShipEngine an alternative to ShipStation?
Not in any practical sense. When I checked, as of Oct 2026, the ShipEngine address loaded the ShipStation home page, so treat it as part of the same product family rather than a separate choice.
What's the difference between shipping software and a WMS?
Shipping software prints labels and compares carriers. A warehouse management system runs the warehouse itself, with picking, packing and stock counts, and usually prints labels as one step in that flow.
Can I print shipping labels for free?
Some tools on this list describe their label software as free, and the free plan column shows which, as of Oct 2026. The carrier still charges for the postage itself.
Do I need a separate tool for checkout shipping rates?
Only if you want to control exactly what shoppers see at checkout, such as live carrier rates, custom rules or delivery dates. Otherwise your store's own shipping settings and a label tool will do.
Which shipping tools suit UK and European sellers?
Look for tools that list European carriers. One platform here calls itself Europe's leading shipping platform for e-commerce, and another lets you compare couriers and book parcels without registering.
