Wix Bookings: Services, Staff, Classes, Payments and Memberships

Wix Bookings is Wix's scheduling app that lets clients book and pay for appointments, classes and courses on your site, online or in person. You can add it to your site for free, but as of October 2026 you have to upgrade your site before you can accept bookings.

Two gates trip people up. Video conferencing needs a plan that supports payments, so even a free online session needs the right upgrade. And memberships and packages aren't available for courses at all, only for appointments and classes. If your business runs on multi-week courses and you planned to sell bundles, check that before you build.

Appointments, classes and courses

Service typeHow it worksMemberships and packages?
Appointments1-to-1 sessions such as consultations and coachingYes
ClassesGroup sessions you schedule as one-off or recurringYes
CoursesGroup sessions run as a course, online or in personNo, as of October 2026

Any of these can run online. Wix suggests a 1-to-1 video tool such as Google Meet for appointments, and either live streaming or a group meeting tool like Zoom for classes, depending on whether participants need to talk. Call hours and participant limits come from the video provider, not Wix. If you're still comparing tools rather than setting one up, here's my guide to online booking apps.

Adding staff members

  1. Go to Staff in your site's dashboard.
  2. Enter the staff member's name, role description, email, phone and photo. Wix reminds you to get their permission to use these.
  3. Click Give Permissions if they should see their own booking calendar and manage their own clients and sessions.
  4. Click Invite to Sync Calendar so they can sync their personal and work calendars. This needs booking permissions first.
  5. Click Add Individual Account to give them their own Google Meet, Zoom or custom video account, then Add Working Hours.

How many staff you can give collaborator permissions to depends on your Wix Premium or Wix Studio plan. You can also edit staff from the Wix app under Manage and then Settings.

Scheduling a class

Classes are flexible. Wix's example is a 90-minute yoga class on Tuesdays, with the same class also running for 60 minutes on Mondays and Wednesdays, each led by a different teacher if you like. As of October 2026:

  1. Create the class service first.
  2. Go to Booking Calendar in your dashboard and click the time slot of the first session.
  3. Choose the class, the location if you have more than one, and the staff member.
  4. Set the start time and duration.
  5. Under Repeat, choose Doesn't repeat, or Repeats weekly, or every 2, 3 or 4 weeks, pick the days and optionally set an end date.
  6. Click Save, or Save & Add New to schedule another.

Getting paid

You set up payment methods under Accept Payments in your dashboard, and Wix suggests the ones available in your area. Then you can switch each method on or off per service, so some services are paid online at booking and others in person.

Payment optionHow it works
Online providerA provider such as Wix Payments, PayPal or Square takes payment at booking
Manual paymentClients pay outside Wix, by bank transfer, cheque or a payment app, following your instructions
DepositClients pay a deposit you choose online and settle the rest in person. Set per service
Varied pricesDifferent prices by staff member, client or service type
PlansMemberships and packages sold through the Pricing Plans app

Memberships vs packages

A membership is a recurring payment for access to chosen services for a set time, like a quarterly gym plan with unlimited pilates and yoga but not other classes. A package is a set number of sessions paid for at once, with or without an expiry, and it can recur, like 2 consultations a month, every month. You can sell a service on its own, only through a plan, or both. Add a Members Area and clients can review, reschedule and re-book without typing their details each time.

Online sessions and the confirmation email

When you add Google Meet or Zoom to a service, each booking gets its own unique meeting link. A custom link uses the same fixed URL for every booking. Wix puts the link in the confirmation email automatically, through dynamic fields. Don't edit those fields by hand, because if you do, the link stops working. To customise the email, go to Booking Settings, then Notifications you send, and edit the confirmation email in the automation builder.

The booking calendar views

ViewWhat you see
WeeklyThe whole week, sessions and free slots
DailyOne date with free slots
StaffSessions in a column per staff member
ResourceSessions in a column per room or piece of equipment
ScheduleA list with time, type, participants, staff and location

You can filter by service, staff, location and availability, colour code by staff or service, block off time, mark attendance and payment, and open each client's contact card to add notes, tasks or attachments such as a permission form. Syncing your personal calendar helps avoid clashes.

My verdict on Wix Bookings

I'd use Wix Bookings if your site's on Wix and you sell appointments or classes, because staff, payments, plans and reminders all sit in one dashboard. Skip it, or test it hard first, if your income depends on selling bundles of courses, since memberships and packages don't cover courses. Budget for the upgrade from day one, because you can't take bookings without it. If you only need a simple scheduling link, look at these Calendly alternatives too.

If your bookings depend on being found, it now matters whether AI tools recommend you. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement, workflow automation and GEO, which is about getting your business seen and cited in AI answers. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wix Bookings free?

You can add Wix Bookings to your site for free, but as of October 2026 you must upgrade your site to accept bookings.

Can I sell packages for courses in Wix Bookings?

No. Membership plans and packages are currently not available for courses, only for appointments and classes.

Does Wix Bookings send the video link automatically?

Yes. If you add a video conferencing link while setting up the service, Wix includes it in the confirmation email sent after booking.

Can clients pay a deposit in Wix Bookings?

Yes. You can ask for a deposit of the amount you choose for individual services, and clients settle the balance in person.

What's the difference between Zoom and a custom link in Wix Bookings?

A Google Meet or Zoom connection creates a unique meeting link for each booking. A custom link uses the same fixed URL for every booking.
