Wix Blog is Wix's blogging app: installing it adds two pages to your site, a blog feed and a post page, and you write everything in the post composer under Blog in your site's dashboard. Once a post has a title it saves automatically, and you can keep it as a draft or schedule it to go live at a set date and time.
The one thing I'd want every Wix blogger to know before they start: never revert a published post to draft to fix it. Wix says reverting a published post to draft and republishing it creates a brand new post, and you lose all the views, likes and comments from the original permanently. Edit the live post in the composer instead.
The two pages Wix Blog adds
Your Blog page is the feed of every post, called Blog by default, with a category menu at the top once you've created categories. Your Post page is a dynamic page that shows one post at a time, so you design it once and that design applies to every post. The feed and the post page have completely separate settings, so a change to one doesn't touch the other. The category feed design is reused for tag, hashtag and archive results pages.
You can also drop a Post List element onto any page, such as your homepage, to pull readers into the blog. Adding a Members Area gives readers profiles where they can follow each other, like and comment.
Writing a post in the composer
- Go to Blog in your site's dashboard.
- Click + Create New Post, or hover over an existing post and click Edit.
- Add your title, then the body: text, images, galleries, videos, GIFs, files, dividers, buttons, tables and polls.
- Use the tabs in the left panel for General, Categories, Tags, SEO and monetisation settings.
- Publish, or click the More Actions icon and choose Save as draft or Schedule Post.
The General tab is where you set the cover image, excerpt, author, publish date and time, featured status and comments. Only people with writing permissions can create and edit posts. You can also write from the Wix app: open your site, tap Manage and then + Create New Post.
Wix Blog limits worth knowing
| Limit or behaviour | As of October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Maximum post size | 400KB |
| Post excerpt | 500 characters. Left blank, it fills with the first few lines of the post |
| Saving | Automatic once the post has a title |
| Post dates | Shown as relative time, like 3 days ago, for the first 7 days, then a standard date |
| URL prefix | /post/ is added and can't be removed. You can edit the slug after it |
| Scheduled posts | No notification when they go live |
| Drafts | Visible only to you, including unpublished edits to live posts |
Wix also recommends keeping a draft open in one browser tab only. Writing across several tabs can create multiple versions and overwrite your content.
Drafts and scheduling
Drafts live under Posts in your dashboard, in the Drafts tab. Scheduled posts sit in the Scheduled tab until they publish, and you can cancel them or change the time from there. You can still edit a post after scheduling it, and your edits go out when it publishes. Because there's no notification, check the live blog after the scheduled time to see it went out the way you wanted.
Blog SEO settings
Each post has its own SEO tab. There you can edit the title tag, meta description and URL slug, choose whether search engines can index the post, add structured data markup, view AI-generated structured data, set robots meta tags, add extra tags and control how the post looks when shared on social networks and on X. The SEO Assistant reviews the post and suggests improvements to the title, description and keywords, and you choose which to apply.
Wix creates a default canonical URL for every post. If the same post lives somewhere else too, you can change its canonical tag in the Advanced tab so search engines treat this one as the primary version. Wix warns that changing your site's URL structure can hurt rankings, so only change a slug when the content needs it. If you'd like to compare where Wix sits against other options, here are the website builders for SEO I'd shortlist.
Charging for posts with subscriptions
You can put posts behind a paywall using Pricing Plans. You need a payment method set up first. As of October 2026:
- Go to the Blog tab in your dashboard and click Monetize in the left toolbar.
- Click Create Plan and add a plan name, tagline and list of benefits.
- Under Posts included, click Choose Posts and select the posts.
- Pick a pricing option: Free Plan, One Time Payment or Recurring Payments.
- Optionally limit it to one purchase per person and add your renewal and refund policy, then click Save.
You can create more than one plan, add a post to several plans, and move the subscription box up or down the post to decide how much non-subscribers can read before the paywall.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Fixing the two most common problems
If the Publish button is greyed out, the post usually has no title, no body content, or a broken element. A title can look empty when its colour matches the background, which you fix under Design and Text style and color. If gaps appear on mobile but not desktop, it's normally an aligned image next to an empty paragraph, or formatting pasted from Word. Paste without formatting with Ctrl + Shift + V on a PC or Shift + Command + V on a Mac.
My verdict on Wix Blog
I'd use Wix Blog if your site's already on Wix and you want posts, SEO settings and paid subscriptions in one place without another tool. Skip it if you're choosing a blogging platform from scratch and want full control of your URLs, because the /post/ prefix stays. Either way, write unique meta descriptions, never revert a live post to draft, and check scheduled posts once they're out. Still weighing it up? Here are the free blogging platforms I'd look at.
Blogging still feeds Google, and it's now feeding AI answers too. Making sure your posts get cited is a big part of what I do. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement, workflow automation and GEO, which is about getting your business seen and cited in AI answers. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
