The Claude mobile app is listed as Claude by Anthropic from the App Store or the Play Store, and you sign in with the same account you use on the web. As of October 2026 it needs iOS or iPadOS 18.0 or later on Apple devices and Android 8.0 Oreo or later on Android.
The catch: there are two Claude apps on the App Store
Search Claude on an iPhone and you'll see two apps from Anthropic. Claude by Anthropic is the standard app. Claude for Intune is a managed iOS version for Enterprise plans that use Microsoft Intune, the device management system some companies run.
Unless your organisation has told you to install the Intune version, you want Claude by Anthropic. If you're on a company Enterprise plan and aren't sure, ask your IT team which one they've set up before you install anything. Install the wrong one and you'll be looking at an app built for company-managed phones, not for your own account.
Which version to install on your phone
| Device | Where to get it | Supported versions, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone and iPad | App Store: Claude by Anthropic | iOS 18.0 and above, iPadOS 18.0 and above |
| Android | Play Store: Claude by Anthropic | Android 8.0 Oreo and above |
| Managed iOS (Enterprise with Intune) | App Store: Claude for Intune | Only if your IT team asks you to |
How to install it and sign in
- Open the App Store on an iPhone or iPad, or the Play Store on Android.
- Search for Claude by Anthropic, then tap Get on iOS or Install on Android.
- Open the app and sign in with the same account you use on the web.
- On Android, add the home screen widget if you want quick buttons (steps below).
Signing in with the same account is the step that matters. Your plan follows your account, so if you sign in on your phone with a different email, you won't see the paid plan you set up on the web.
If you can't find the app, Anthropic says the likely reasons are an unsupported region, an unsupported device or an operating system older than the versions in the table.
What Claude can do with apps on an iPhone
This is where the phone app goes beyond the browser. On iOS, Claude can connect to built-in system apps and compatible third-party apps, and Anthropic says this works on all Claude plans as of October 2026.
- Messages and Mail: draft messages and emails.
- Calendar: read and create calendar events.
- Reminders: manage your reminders.
- Maps and Location Services: show locations on maps.
The list isn't limited to Apple's own apps. Anthropic says Claude can also work with compatible third-party apps on iOS, so the same idea extends beyond Messages, Mail, Calendar, Reminders and Maps.
That makes the iPhone app a handy place for quick admin. You can ask Claude to draft a reply, add a meeting or set a reminder without copying text between apps. If you want Claude talking to the other tools you use for work, my guide to connecting Claude to your apps and tools covers that side.
There's also a health data feature on iOS. As of October 2026 it's in beta, it needs a Pro or Max plan, and it's only available in the US. If you're on the free plan or outside the US, you won't see it yet.
The Android home screen widget
Android has a home screen widget, available on Android 8.0 and later. It gives you three quick buttons: start a new chat, capture an image, and voice dictation.
- Long-press an empty area of your home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find Claude and drag the widget into place.
- Drag its edges to resize it.
The capture button is the one I'd use most: point your camera at a document, a sign or a screen and go straight into a chat about it. If you'd rather talk than type, my piece on using Claude by voice explains how that works.
Plans, prices and cancelling on mobile
Your plan follows your account, not your device. Claude Max and the other paid plans work across web, desktop and mobile with the same account, and plan features aren't split by device.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Two billing details are worth knowing before you subscribe from your phone. First, Anthropic's Max plan page says mobile pricing may differ from web pricing, so compare before you tap subscribe in the app. Second, uninstalling the app doesn't cancel a paid subscription. You need to cancel separately, using the Pro or Max cancellation steps, or you'll keep paying for a plan you've deleted from your phone.
If you work on a laptop as well, the Claude desktop app is the computer version, and your chats sit in the same account whichever you open.
My verdict on the Claude mobile app
I'd install it if you have an iPhone and want Claude drafting messages, adding calendar events and setting reminders for you, or if you're on Android and like the idea of a one-tap widget for a new chat or a photo. I'd skip the Intune version unless your IT team sends you to it. And I'd always check the in-app price against the web before subscribing, and cancel through your account settings rather than assuming that deleting the app ends the plan.
