Vinted vs Poshmark: Which Is Right for Selling Your Clothes?

Sell on Vinted if you want to keep 100% of your asking price: Vinted charges sellers no selling fee, and the buyer pays shipping plus a Vinted fee at checkout. Sell on Poshmark if you're in the US or Canada and you're happy to pay a 20% commission (with a $2.95 minimum fee) for a community of 130M+ members and free authentication on items of $500 or more.

These two apps answer the same question in opposite ways: who pays for the sale? On Vinted the buyer does, and on Poshmark the seller does. I read Vinted's UK and US how-it-works pages and Poshmark's fee settings, Posh Protect and about pages, so what follows is what each company says about itself as of October 2026.

How Vinted keeps selling free

Vinted's US page puts it plainly: there are no selling fees on Vinted and you keep 100% of what you earn. The UK page says the same thing with zero selling fees, so what you earn is yours to keep. Listing is free too. You download the app, take photos, write a description, set your price and tap Upload, and the listing is live.

The money comes from the buyer side instead. Vinted's pages say its refund policy, secure transactions and support cover every purchase made with the Buy now button, and that it adds a Vinted fee to the buyer's transaction to cover those costs. Buyers also pay for shipping, so as the seller you get a prepaid label. In the UK you've got 5 days to take the parcel to a drop-off point. In the US you can use a nearby drop-off point or choose home collection, with real-time tracking either way.

How Poshmark's seller commission works

Poshmark's own pages show a 20% commission with a $2.95 minimum fee for US sellers and a $3 minimum selling price. Canadian sellers pay the same 20%, with a $3.95 minimum fee and a $5 minimum selling price. Because the seller carries the cost, Poshmark sellers tend to set their prices with that commission already built in.

What you get for it: reach and trust. Poshmark's about page lists $8B earned by its sellers to date, 130M+ community members across the US and Canada and 350M+ items sold. Posh Authenticate adds free authentication and free shipping on items of $500 or more ($700 in Canada), which gives buyers of designer pieces a reason to pay full price.

The catch: the buyer's total decides the sale

Vinted's zero fee for sellers doesn't mean the buyer pays your asking price and nothing more. They see your price plus shipping plus the Vinted fee, so a Vinted listing has to look good at that all-in total. On Poshmark it's the reverse: the buyer's total is closer to the number on the listing, but you hand over 20% (or $2.95, whichever is more) when it sells. Neither model is free. They just put the cost on different shoulders, and that changes how you should price.

Refund windows: 2 days or 72 hours

Vinted's UK page says buyers get a refund if an item doesn't arrive, was damaged in transit or is significantly not as described, and they need to tell Vinted within 2 days of delivery. Unless the two of you agree otherwise, the buyer covers the cost of sending it back. UK buyers can pay by PayPal, bank card, Apple Pay or their Vinted Balance.

Poshmark gives buyers 72 hours after delivery to open a return case, backed by photos, for undisclosed damage, a wrong or missing item, an item not as described, an item that isn't authentic, or an order that never arrived. Approved returns have to go back within 5 days. Posh Protect doesn't cover items that don't fit or a buyer who's changed their mind, so a sale is final once payment has been released.

Who each app suits

  1. You want every penny of your asking price: Vinted, where sellers pay no selling fee.
  2. You sell designer pieces of $500 or more in the US or Canada: Poshmark, with free authentication for the buyer.
  3. You'd rather not deal with shipping costs: Vinted, because the buyer pays for shipping and you print a prepaid label.
  4. You want a long-established US and Canadian buyer base: Poshmark, with 130M+ community members.
  5. You're clearing lots of low-priced basics: Vinted, where there's no minimum fee taken from each sale.

My advice on choosing between Vinted and Poshmark

Start on Vinted if you're clearing out a wardrobe and want the simplest deal for you as a seller: list it, ship it with a prepaid label and keep what you earn. Move higher-priced brands and designer pieces to Poshmark if you're in the US or Canada, because the commission buys you authentication, protection from fit returns and a community built around brands. Price with the full cost in mind on both.
