Copilot Pages is a shared, editable page that opens beside Copilot Chat, so you can turn an AI answer into a document you keep refining with Copilot and your team. To start one, sign in at copilot.cloud.microsoft, select the plus button by the prompt box, hover over More and choose Draft page or code, or select Edit in Pages under any Copilot response.
The surprise for most small businesses is who can use it. Microsoft says work or school accounts with SharePoint or OneDrive storage get Copilot Pages even without a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. On a personal account, you need Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium or Pro. Here's how it works, from Microsoft's own support pages, checked as of October 2026.
Who can use Copilot Pages
| Account type | What you need |
|---|---|
| Work or school (Entra ID) | SharePoint or OneDrive storage, including accounts without a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence |
| Personal Microsoft account | A Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium or Pro subscription |
If your organisation manages Copilot through IT, Microsoft says your admin may control which AI tools and data sources you can use in Pages. If you can't see the option, that's the first thing to check.
How to create a Copilot Page
- Sign in at copilot.cloud.microsoft. You should see your name and picture at the bottom left.
- From the Copilot Chat home screen, select the plus button to the left of the prompt box, hover over More and select Draft page or code.
- Describe what you want on the page and send the prompt.
- Or, from any Copilot response, select the three dots underneath and choose Edit in Pages, then add it to a new or existing page.
- Rename the page by selecting its title, then edit it directly or keep chatting with Copilot to update it.
You can also just ask. Microsoft says if you tell Copilot to "Create a page..." or "Generate a page...", it can create one automatically when it detects you're drafting something durable, such as a project brief.
What Copilot Pages is good for
Microsoft positions Pages for content that changes over time and needs to be shared: project briefs, supplier comparisons, meeting notes and draft emails. You can create interactive charts, visuals and dashboards, not just text, and ask Copilot questions about what's already on the page. When it's ready, you can convert a page into a Word document or a PowerPoint presentation.
Try this project brief prompt
Create a one-page project brief called Spring Launch. Use the attached files as sources. Include purpose, scope, success metrics, a timeline table with owners, and risks with mitigations. Write in plain language.
Try this supplier comparison prompt
Create a comparison table for our two shortlisted bookkeeping suppliers using the attached quotes. Columns: features, setup time, security, first-year cost and references. Add a short recommendation with assumptions and risks.
Where Copilot Pages are saved
This is the detail IT teams will want. Microsoft's FAQ says a Copilot Page is saved as a .page file in a new user-owned SharePoint Embedded container. Pages share the same storage as My workspace in Loop, which is why Loop pages can open in Copilot Pages from share links or search, and why a page link you share from chat opens in the Loop app for the person you send it to. Your pages stay available until you delete them, and you can find earlier ones in the Microsoft Copilot Library.
Copilot Pages vs Loop vs Copilot Notebooks
| Loop | Copilot Pages | Copilot Notebooks | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Description | A collaborative workspace with live components and pages | An editable, shareable canvas made from Copilot responses | An AI notebook that gathers files, chats, pages and links |
| Use it when | Collaborating live on modular content | You want to save and refine Copilot content | A project needs AI summaries and structured thinking |
| Copilot integration | Medium | High | Very high |
| Sharing | Real-time co-authoring | Shareable pages | Only individual pages; full notebooks stay private |
They work together: pages show up in Loop and can be edited there, and pages made in Copilot Chat can be added to a notebook. If you already use notebooks in OneNote, read my guide to using Copilot in OneNote.

Limits Microsoft lists
- Pages mainly work with content stored in Microsoft 365, such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Loop. Outside data sources may not be fully supported yet.
- Deep layout changes and advanced formatting may be limited.
- Several people can edit at once, but Copilot's answers may not reflect everyone's edits until the page is refreshed.
- Very large or complex pages can slow Copilot down or render badly.
- Copilot can only see content you already have permission to view.
Is Copilot Pages worth using?
If your team already lives in Microsoft 365, yes. It fixes the most annoying part of AI chat: a great answer that disappears into your chat history. Put it on a page, share it, and keep improving it together. If you want Copilot's help inside the documents themselves, see how to use Copilot in Word, and for how Microsoft uses your files, read what Microsoft 365 Copilot is and how it handles your data.
My advice
Use Copilot Pages for anything you'd otherwise copy out of the chat into an email or a document. Start from a response with Edit in Pages, keep the page small and focused, and convert it to Word when it's final. And check your sharing before you send the link, because whoever opens it gets the content, not your chat.
