Yes, Krea AI has a free plan. Krea's pricing page lists Free at $0 a month with 100 compute units a day and no credit card required, and the allowance refills every day; the catch is that Krea's commercial licence starts with the paid Basic plan.
That last point matters if you're making images for a business, a client or anything you'll sell. Below is what Krea's free plan includes, how the daily units work, what the paid plans cost and add, and when it's worth upgrading. Everything comes from Krea's own pricing page and its FAQ, checked as of October 2026.
What's included in Krea's free plan
The Free card on Krea's pricing page shows 100 units a day and $0 a month, with no credit card needed. It lists access to Krea's real-time models, which generate images as you type or draw, plus limited LoRA training with up to 50 images and limited image upscaling up to 2K resolution.
Krea's FAQ explains how the daily allowance behaves: the Free plan includes a daily compute allowance that refills every day, and once it's used up you either wait for the next refill or upgrade. Support on the free plan is community support through Krea's Discord.
The commercial licence question
Here's the detail most people miss. Asked whether plans include a commercial licence, Krea's FAQ says yes for Basic, Pro, Max, Business and Enterprise, covering images, videos and other assets for marketing, advertising, products and client work. Free isn't on that list.
So if you're testing ideas or making images for yourself, the free plan is fine. If those images are going on a product page, in an ad or to a client, the lowest plan that includes the commercial licence is Basic.
Krea plans and prices
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Compute units |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100 a day |
| Basic | $9 a month | $5 a month | 5,000 a month |
| Pro | $35 a month | $21 a month | 20,000 a month |
| Max | $105 a month | $63 a month | 60,000 a month |
| Business | $200 a month | $160 a month | 80k a month, up to 50 seats |
Krea gives a sense of scale on each card. Basic's 5,000 units are shown as about 112 Nano Banana 2 generations or about 15 Seedance 2.0 Fast videos, and Pro's 20,000 units as 450 Nano Banana 2 generations or about 65 Seedance 2.5 videos. Basic includes selected video models; Pro opens all video models, including Veo 3.1, Seedance and Kling.
How Krea's units roll over
- Free: a daily allowance that refills every day.
- Basic, Pro and Max: units are allocated monthly and don't roll over.
- Business and Enterprise: unused units can roll over to the next billing period.
- Switching plans: upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing.
Krea's tools beyond image generation
Krea's plan cards show how much of the platform sits around the image models. Every card lists Krea 3, its newest in-house model for generating and editing images, and Krea Agent, which takes one brief and then plans, generates and iterates across models for you. Krea Nodes lets you build a workflow by connecting models, prompts and processing steps in a visual editor, and App Builder turns that workflow into a reusable app you can run again or share.
Paid plans also list unlimited relaxed generations, which means you can keep generating with supported in-house image models after your compute units run out, and bigger upscaling up to 22K with paid upscalers including Topaz.
When the Business plan makes sense
Krea's Business plan is priced per team, not per seat. Its FAQ says you pay for the compute pack you choose, up to 50 members are included at no extra cost per member, and everyone shares the workspace's units. Business also comes with its own terms of service, which Krea says include data protection and no-training clauses for your content, plus custom roles and controls over which models your team can use. Unused units on Business can roll over, while on the individual plans they expire at the end of each billing cycle.
How to get the most from Krea free
- Sign up without a card and start with the real-time models, which are included free.
- Try ideas in small batches so the 100 daily units last across a session.
- Upscale only the images you'll keep, as free upscaling tops out at 2K.
- If a style matters to you, train a small LoRA with up to 50 of your own images.
- Move to Basic before using any image commercially, so the licence covers it.

My verdict: is Krea AI free?
Yes, and the free plan is more generous than most because it refills daily instead of running out for good. You get 100 compute units a day, real-time models and limited training and upscaling with no card. What you don't get is the commercial licence, which starts on Basic at $9 a month, or $5 a month billed yearly, as of October 2026. Use Free to learn Krea; pay before you sell what you make.
