A YouTube script generator uses AI to draft a video script from a topic, an outline or your notes, often with a hook, sections and a call to action. Some are free one-page tools, some sit inside video editors and some plan whole channels. Choose by how much of the process you want in one place. Ten options follow, in no particular order.
A blank page is the slowest part of making a video. Most creators know what they want to say, but turning it into a script with a hook, a structure and an ending takes longer than recording it.
The ten generators below range from free single-purpose tools to channel planners and video makers with a script step built in. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you'd rather prompt a chatbot yourself, my ChatGPT prompts for YouTube scripts will get you started.

I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

The YouTube rule every AI script has to respect
YouTube Help says that on July 15, 2025 it renamed its repetitious content policy to inauthentic content. The update makes clear the rule covers repetitive or mass-produced content, which has always been ineligible for monetization.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
An AI script isn't a problem in itself. A channel full of videos that all read the same, with the same structure, the same phrases and nothing of the creator in them, is. Use the generator for the first draft, then add your own stories, examples and opinions so each video is clearly yours.
Five edits that turn an AI draft into your script
- Rewrite the hook in your own words, using a real problem your viewers have.
- Add one example or story only you could tell.
- Cut any sentence you wouldn't say out loud.
- Put the main point earlier than the AI did.
- End with one clear next step, not three.
Give the generator better inputs
The quality of an AI script depends on what you feed it. A topic alone gets you a generic draft. A topic plus your audience, your angle, three points you want to make and the length of the video gets you something close to usable.
If a tool lets you paste in a transcript of an earlier video, do it. The draft will sound more like you, and you'll spend less time fixing the tone. My notes on AI tools for script writing cover film and podcast scripts too.
Signs an AI script needs more of your voice
- It could be about anyone. Add your own example.
- Every section starts the same way. Vary the openings.
- It promises a lot and delivers little. Cut the hype.
- You stumble reading it. Rewrite those lines.
Do you make a YouTube script generator? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on AI scripts
Use an AI script as a scaffold, not a finished video. Write your hook and your ending yourself, let the tool fill in the middle, then read the whole thing out loud before you record. If you stumble over a line, rewrite it.
Give each tool the same brief for one video and compare the drafts side by side. The one that needs the fewest edits to sound like you is the one to keep.

Frequently asked questions
What is a YouTube script generator?
It's an AI tool that drafts a video script from a topic, outline or notes, usually with a hook, main sections and a call to action.
Can I monetize videos made with AI scripts?
AI scripts are allowed, but YouTube's inauthentic content policy covers repetitive or mass-produced content, which isn't eligible for monetization.
Are there free YouTube script generators?
Yes. Several tools on this list say on their own pages that their script generator is free to use.
How long should a YouTube script be?
Long enough to cover one idea well. Many tools ask for a target video length and size the script to fit.
Should I read an AI script word for word?
Read it aloud first and rewrite anything that doesn't sound like you. Viewers can tell when a script isn't yours.
Can a script generator write the hook?
It can suggest one, but your own hook, based on a real problem your viewers have, usually works better.
