A tweet scheduler lets you queue posts on X (formerly Twitter) for later, so you're not glued to your phone at peak times. Most issues people search for (posts not going out, images failing, times shown wrong) come down to app permissions, timezone settings, or API limits. Fix those and scheduling tends to work reliably.
Why tweet schedulers break more often than you'd expect
X (formerly Twitter) changed its API rules a few times over the past couple of years, and that affects how third party tools post on your behalf. Some schedulers had to rebuild their connections. Others lost certain features altogether, like bulk uploading or thread scheduling.
If your scheduled posts have stopped going out, or they go out at the wrong time, it is rarely your fault. It is usually a permissions issue, a timezone mismatch, or the tool hitting a posting limit set by X itself.
I am going to go through the fixes in the order I would try them. Start at the top and work down. Most problems get solved in the first two or three steps.
Fix one: reconnect your X account
This sounds obvious but it solves more problems than anything else on this list. When you connected your scheduler to X, you gave it specific permissions. If X updated its login system since then, your old connection might be running on outdated permissions.
Go into your scheduler's settings, disconnect the X account completely, then reconnect it from scratch. Do not just refresh the page. Log out of X in your browser first, log back in, then reconnect the scheduler.
- Open your scheduler's account settings
- Find the connected X account and remove it
- Log out of X on x.com
- Log back into X directly
- Return to the scheduler and reconnect the account
- Authorise all the permissions it asks for
Fix two: check your timezone settings in two places
This one catches people constantly. Your scheduler has its own timezone setting, separate from your device and separate from your X account. If these three do not match, your 9am post can go out at 2am or 4pm instead.
Open your scheduler and find the timezone setting, usually in account or workspace settings. Set it to match where you are, not where your company is registered or where your audience mostly lives. You can adjust posting times separately once the base timezone is correct.
Then check your device clock and timezone are set to automatic, not manual. A manually set timezone on your phone or laptop can throw off how the scheduler reads your local time when you are creating posts on the go.
Fix three: deal with image and video upload failures
Media failing to attach or posting as broken links is almost always a file format or size problem. X has its own limits on file size and dimensions, and your scheduler has to match those or the upload gets rejected silently.
Check your image is under the size limit your scheduler states, usually in their help section. Resave it as a standard JPG or PNG rather than HEIC or a less common format. For video, stick to MP4 and keep it under the duration your scheduler recommends.

If a specific image keeps failing but others work fine, open it in any basic editor and resave it. This strips out metadata that sometimes causes the upload to fail without any clear error message.
Fix four: work out if you have hit a posting limit
X sets limits on how many posts can go out through third party tools in a given period. These limits are tied to your account and can vary depending on your account history and verification status. I cannot tell you the exact numbers because X does not publish them clearly and they change.

Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule a thread of tweets, not just a single post?
Many schedulers support thread scheduling, but features vary by tool and have changed as X updated its API. Check your specific scheduler's current feature list rather than assuming, since some dropped thread support entirely during past API changes.
Why did my scheduled tweet post at the wrong time?
This is almost always a timezone mismatch between your scheduler settings, your device clock, and your X account. Check all three match your actual location and set your device clock to automatic rather than manual.
Is there a limit to how many tweets I can schedule per day?
X does set limits on third party posting, though exact numbers are not published and can vary by account. If posts repeatedly fail to send, spacing them further apart or reducing daily volume often resolves it.
My scheduled image post failed but text only posts work fine, why?
This usually points to a file format or size issue rather than a connection problem. Resave the image as a standard JPG or PNG, check it meets the size limit, and try uploading it again.
