The best AI kitchen design tools let you see a remodel before you spend: some redesign a photo of your existing kitchen in new styles, some let you plan cabinets and layout in 3D, and some swap surfaces and finishes so you can compare looks. Eleven tools follow, several free to start, and the right one depends on whether you're changing the layout or just the look.
A kitchen is usually the biggest room in the house to change, which is why so many of us spend months scrolling for ideas. AI tools shorten that by showing your own kitchen with new cabinets, worktops and colours in seconds.
The eleven tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the company's own website, read this week. If a full remodel isn't on the cards, my guide to painting kitchen cabinets without brush marks is a quicker win.
AI kitchen design tools at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names a free plan, a free version, a free account or an open source version. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start for free, so check the provider's page before you sign up.

Renders don't show the wiring
GOV.UK describes Approved Document P as the Building Regulation in England covering electrical safety in dwellings.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
That's worth remembering when an AI image moves your hob, sink or sockets. If your new layout changes where appliances, lighting or power go, the wiring has its own rules, so talk to a qualified electrician before you finalise the plan.
Layout change or a new look?
If you're keeping the layout, photo redesign tools are the fastest way to test colours, cabinet doors and worktops. They're ideal for choosing between a few options.
If you're moving things around, start with a 3D planner where you can set measurements. It'll show whether the island fits and whether doors clash before anyone orders a cabinet.
It's also worth taking photos in good daylight from the same spot each time. You'll get more useful comparisons, and you can show the same angle to a fitter later.
Questions to ask before you plan
- Am I changing the layout or only the finishes?
- Can I enter my real room measurements?
- Will it work from a photo of my kitchen?
- Can I save and compare several versions?
- Can I share designs with a fitter or showroom?
- Is there a free way to test it first?
Signs AI design will help your remodel
- You can't choose a colour. Compare redesigns side by side.
- You're unsure the island fits. Plan it to measure.
- You and your partner disagree. Show each other options.
- You're about to get quotes. Bring one clear design.
Do you make AI interior or kitchen design tools? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on designing a kitchen with AI
Use AI to settle the look, then measure twice before you settle the layout. A redesign tool can make anything look lovely, but only real measurements tell you whether the dishwasher door will open.
Save the three versions you like most and take them to a showroom or fitter. You'll get better quotes when everyone's looking at the same picture. For colour and style ideas, my guide to kitchen design trends is a good browse.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI design my kitchen?
AI tools can redesign a photo of your kitchen or help you plan a layout in 3D, but a fitter should check measurements and services before you order.
Is there a free AI kitchen design tool?
Some tools are free to start or offer free redesigns. Check each provider's page for current limits.
Can I redesign my kitchen from a photo?
Yes. Several tools redesign an uploaded photo of your kitchen in different styles and finishes.
Do I need an electrician if I move appliances?
If you change where power, lighting or appliances go, the wiring has its own rules. In England, Approved Document P covers electrical safety in homes.
Can I plan cabinets with AI?
3D kitchen planners let you place cabinets and appliances to measure, and some add AI suggestions.
How accurate are AI kitchen designs?
They're good for style and ideas, but measurements, plumbing and electrics still need a professional check.
