Facebook won't show you your current password anywhere in its settings. If you've forgotten it, check where your phone or browser saved it: the Passwords app on iPhone, or Google Password Manager on Android and Chrome. If it isn't saved, use Forgot password on the Facebook login screen to set a new one.
Facebook's own password help is all about changing or resetting, never revealing. So the real answer lives on your device. Here's where to look, from Facebook Help, Apple Support and Google Help, read in October 2026.
Where your Facebook password might be saved
| Device or browser | Where to look |
|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad (iOS 18 or later) | The Passwords app |
| iPhone or iPad (iOS 17 or earlier) | Settings, then Passwords |
| Android phone | Google Password Manager |
| Chrome on any computer | Chrome's Password Manager, or passwords.google.com |
How to see your Facebook password on iPhone
- Open the Passwords app (iOS 18 or later).
- Open it with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
- Choose a category or Shared Group, then select facebook.com or the Facebook app.
- Tap the password field to reveal it.
On iOS 17 or earlier, go to Settings, scroll down, tap Passwords, authenticate, then select Facebook. Apple also says you can ask Siri to show your passwords.
Can't find it on your iPhone?
Apple's checks: make sure you're viewing All passwords, not a Shared Group, and look in Recently Deleted (tap Deleted in the Passwords app). If you use more than one Apple device, iCloud Keychain keeps saved passwords in sync between them.
How to see your Facebook password on Android or in Chrome
Google Password Manager stores passwords saved to your Google Account, and Google says you can manage them from Chrome or any browser at passwords.google.com.
- Open Google Password Manager, or go to passwords.google.com in a browser.
- Sign in to your Google Account if asked.
- Search for Facebook.
- Select it and choose to show the password. You may need to confirm it's you.
Not saved anywhere? Reset it
If there's no saved copy, the only way forward is a new password. Facebook's steps:
- On the Facebook login screen, click Forgot password?.
- Enter the email address, mobile number, full name or username on your account, then click Search.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Facebook notes that if you have two-factor authentication on, you can't use the same mobile number you use for two-factor to reset your password, so you'll need a different number or an email on your account. It also limits how many times a day you can reset your password, to keep accounts safe.
Know it but want to change it?
- Click your profile picture, then Settings and privacy, then Settings.
- Click Accounts Center, then Password and security.
- Click Change password and choose your account.
- Enter your current password and a new one.
Facebook may ask for a confirmation code sent to your email. My guide on how to reset your Facebook password covers the problems people hit along the way.
Never use a "password viewer" app
Be wary of any app or website that claims it can show you a Facebook password. Facebook's own help only offers ways to change or reset a password, so the places you can see one are the password managers you saved it in. Typing your login into a so-called viewer just hands it to a stranger.
No access to your email or phone either?
That's the hardest case: no saved password, and the reset code goes somewhere you can't reach. Facebook has a separate route for recovering an account without access to the email or mobile number on it, linked from its password help. Use it from a device you've logged in from before, if you can.

Keep it safe from here
- Let your password manager create and save a strong, unique password.
- Turn on two-factor authentication.
- Save your Facebook recovery codes somewhere safe.
- Keep your email and phone number on the account up to date.
My advice
Check your phone's password manager before you reset anything. If you saved it when you first logged in, it's sitting there. If it isn't, reset it from the login screen and save the new one in your password manager this time.
Once you've found it, protect the account with two-factor authentication on Facebook.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see my Facebook password in Facebook settings?
No. Facebook lets you change or reset your password, but it doesn't show your current one.
Where is my Facebook password saved on iPhone?
In the Passwords app on iOS 18 or later, or in Settings, then Passwords on iOS 17 or earlier.
Where is my Facebook password saved on Android?
If you saved it to your Google Account, it's in Google Password Manager, which you can also open at passwords.google.com.
What if my Facebook password isn't saved anywhere?
Click Forgot password? on the Facebook login screen, find your account and follow the steps to set a new password.
Are Facebook password viewer apps safe?
Treat them as unsafe. Facebook only offers ways to change or reset a password, so an app asking for your login to reveal one is a risk.
Why does Facebook say I've reset my password too many times?
Facebook limits how many times a day you can reset your password to keep accounts safe. Wait and try again later.
Can I reset my Facebook password with my two-factor phone number?
No. Facebook says you can't use the same mobile number you use for two-factor authentication to reset your password.
