The best power dialers call the next number on your list automatically as soon as a call ends, so reps spend their time talking rather than dialling. Some are built into a CRM or phone system, while others add AI parallel dialing that rings several numbers at once and skips voicemail. Eleven options follow in no particular order.
Manual dialling eats a sales day. Find the number, dial, wait, leave a voicemail, log the call, move on. Do that a hundred times and you've spent hours on everything except conversations. A power dialer takes the waiting and the clicking out of it.
The eleven dialers below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If your openers need work as much as your dialling speed, my cold call opening lines are ready to borrow.
Power dialers side by side
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names a free plan, a free version, a free allowance or an open source version. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start for free, so check the vendor's page before you rely on it.

Faster dialing comes with rules on dropped calls
The Federal Trade Commission's guide to the Telemarketing Sales Rule says each calling campaign has a maximum abandonment rate of three percent. A call counts as abandoned if a sales representative isn't connected within two seconds of the person's completed greeting.
That's why parallel and predictive modes need careful settings. If your dialer connects someone and there's no rep free, you've got a compliance problem as well as an annoyed prospect. In the UK, the ICO also says you mustn't make marketing calls to numbers on the Telephone Preference Service unless that person has consented.
Power dialers versus parallel dialers
A power dialer rings one number at a time and moves to the next automatically. It's simple, keeps the rep in control and suits warmer lists where every conversation matters.
A parallel dialer rings several numbers at once and connects the rep to whoever answers first. It can mean far more conversations from cold lists, but it needs stricter settings and good data to avoid dropped calls.
Questions to ask before you choose a dialer
- Does it connect to the CRM we already use?
- Can we switch between power and parallel modes?
- How does it keep our numbers from being flagged as spam?
- Can we drop prerecorded voicemails?
- What call recording and coaching tools are included?
- How does it help us follow calling rules where we sell?
Signs your team needs a power dialer
- Reps spend more time dialling than talking. Automate the next call.
- Calls don't get logged. Connect the dialer to your CRM.
- Voicemails take ages. Drop a recorded message.
- Numbers show as spam. Check caller ID health.
Do you make a sales dialer or calling tool? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on choosing a power dialer
Start with a plain power dialer and clean data before you jump to parallel dialing. More calls from a bad list just means more wrong numbers, and a rep who's had a good conversation is worth more than one who's had fifty rushed ones.
Check the dialer works inside your CRM, so calls and notes land in the right record without extra clicks. If you're also rethinking your phones, my guide to cloud-based phone systems is a useful companion.
Frequently asked questions
What is a power dialer?
A power dialer automatically calls the next number on a list when the previous call ends, so reps spend less time dialling.
What's the difference between a power dialer and a parallel dialer?
A power dialer calls one number at a time, while a parallel dialer calls several at once and connects the rep to whoever answers.
Are power dialers legal?
They're widely used, but calling rules apply. In the US, the FTC sets a maximum abandonment rate, and UK callers must respect the Telephone Preference Service.
Do power dialers work with CRMs?
Most connect to popular CRMs, and some are built into a CRM.
Can a power dialer leave voicemails?
Many let reps drop a prerecorded voicemail and move straight to the next call.
Is there a free power dialer?
Some vendors offer free trials. The free plan column above shows what each site says.
