Outreach Alternatives: 9 Sales Engagement Tools

The best Outreach alternatives help sales teams run sequences of emails, calls and LinkedIn steps, track replies and keep pipeline moving. Some are full revenue platforms for large teams, while others are lighter cold email and outbound tools for small teams and founders. Nine options follow in no particular order.

Sales engagement software keeps follow-ups from slipping through the cracks. It decides who to contact today, with what message, and reminds the rep when someone opens, clicks or replies.

The nine tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the tool's own website, read this week. If your problem is the message rather than the software, my guide to cold emails that get replies is the place to start.

Outreach alternatives side by side

In the free plan column, Yes means the tool's own site names a free plan, a free version, a free account or open source software. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start for free.

The opt-out rule that tools have to respect

Sequences make it easy to keep emailing, so the rules matter. The Federal Trade Commission's CAN-SPAM compliance guide says you must honor a recipient's opt-out request within 10 business days, and any opt-out mechanism must process requests for at least 30 days after you send your message.

In the UK and EU, separate rules apply to marketing emails too. Whichever tool you choose, make sure an unsubscribe in one sequence stops every sequence and every mailbox that person might hear from.

Full revenue platform or lean outbound tool?

Larger sales teams often want engagement, call recording and forecasting from one vendor, with managers watching activity across dozens of reps. Smaller teams usually need clean sequences, good deliverability and a tidy link to their CRM.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Be honest about team size. A platform built for a hundred reps can slow down a team of three with set-up and admin.

Questions to ask before you switch sales tools

  1. Does it sync cleanly with my CRM?
  2. Can I mix email, calls and LinkedIn steps in one sequence?
  3. How does it protect sender reputation and deliverability?
  4. Do unsubscribes apply across every sequence and mailbox?
  5. Can managers see activity and replies by rep?
  6. Is there a trial long enough to run a real sequence?

How to move sequences to a new tool

Don't copy every old sequence across. Export the ones that booked meetings in the last quarter, rewrite the weakest steps and leave the rest behind. A switch is the perfect excuse for a clean-up you'd otherwise never get round to.

Warm up any new sending domains slowly and import your unsubscribe and bounce lists first, before a single email goes out. That one step protects your sender reputation and keeps you on the right side of the rules from day one.

It's also worth booking a short training session for the team in week one. People don't adopt tools they're unsure about, and twenty minutes on the basics saves weeks of half-used features. Record it, too, so new starters can watch it later.

Signs your outbound process needs a rethink

  • Replies sit unanswered. Route them fast.
  • Unsubscribes keep emailing. Fix the sync.
  • Reps work from spreadsheets. Use sequences.
  • Fewer emails get seen. Check deliverability.

Do you make a sales engagement or outbound tool? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My plain advice on choosing an Outreach alternative

Pick the tool your reps will use every day without complaining. Adoption beats features, and a simple tool that's used every day will book more meetings than a powerful one everyone avoids.

Then spend as much time on the sequence as on the software. My guide to AI sales email sequences for small business shows how to write steps that sound human.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Outreach?

It depends on team size and how much you need beyond sequences. The list above is in no particular order.

Are there free trials for sales engagement tools?

Several offer free trials. The free plan column shows what each tool's own site says.

How fast must I honour unsubscribes?

The FTC's CAN-SPAM guide says within 10 business days, and opt-outs must work for at least 30 days after you send.

Do I need a separate dialer?

Some tools include a dialer built in. Their descriptions above mention it.

Can these tools send LinkedIn steps?

Some combine email with LinkedIn tasks or automation. Check each tool's features and LinkedIn's own rules.

What matters most when choosing?

CRM sync, deliverability and whether your team will use it daily.
