Adobe Acrobat Pro Price: Standard, Pro and Studio Compared

As of October 2026, Adobe Acrobat Pro is US$19.99 a month on Adobe's annual plan, billed monthly. Acrobat Standard is US$14.99 a month and Acrobat Studio, which adds AI Assistant, is US$24.99 a month on the same billing.

Acrobat Pro is still the PDF editor most businesses reach for when a client sends a contract or a form that needs changing. Before you subscribe, it's worth knowing which of the three plans you need and what happens if you cancel early, because Adobe's annual plans carry a fee that catches people out.

Acrobat Standard, Pro and Studio prices

PlanPrice as of October 2026What it adds
Acrobat StandardUS$14.99 a monthEssential PDF tools: create, edit, convert, sign
Acrobat ProUS$19.99 a monthAdvanced tools: redaction, web forms, scans to editable PDFs
Acrobat StudioUS$24.99 a monthEverything in Pro plus AI Assistant and Adobe Express Premium

Adobe's page offers three ways to pay: annual billed monthly, annual prepaid and monthly. The prices above are the ones shown for annual, billed monthly.

What Acrobat Pro includes that Standard doesn't

Both plans let you create, edit, convert, export and organise PDFs, collect e-signatures and track responses, and fill, sign and password-protect files. Acrobat Pro adds three things that matter for business documents:

  • Redacting sensitive content, which you'll want before sharing anything with personal or financial details.
  • Creating web forms.
  • Turning scans into editable PDFs, so paper documents become text you can change.

If you never redact or scan, Standard covers you. If you handle client contracts, HR files or invoices with personal details, Pro's redaction alone is the reason to pay for the higher plan.

The cancellation fee on annual plans

This is the line I'd want every reader to see before buying. Next to each annual billed monthly price, Adobe's page says a fee applies of up to half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days. In plain English, cancel in the first two weeks and you're fine. Cancel in month four and you could still owe a large part of the year.

If you only need Acrobat for a single project, look at the monthly option on Adobe's page instead, or use the free Acrobat options for simple jobs like signing.

Is there a one-time purchase?

Adobe stopped selling perpetual versions after Acrobat 2020. Its FAQ says Acrobat Pro 2024 desktop software is a one-time, upfront purchase that gives three years of access to Acrobat desktop. It includes quarterly security updates, but not new Acrobat features or access to Acrobat online services in a browser or on mobile. That suits an office PC that only edits PDFs, but not someone who works across devices.

Acrobat Pro or a free PDF tool?

You don't need a paid plan for every PDF job. Signing a document, filling in a form or rotating pages can be done with free readers and browser tools. Where Acrobat Pro earns its price is the work free tools do badly: editing the text inside an existing PDF, redacting so the hidden text is gone rather than just covered, turning a scanned contract into editable text, and building a form other people can fill in.

A simple test: if you've had to retype a PDF in the last month because you couldn't edit it, Acrobat Pro will pay for itself in saved time. If you mostly read and sign, it won't.

Acrobat Studio and the AI Assistant

Acrobat Studio costs US$24.99 a month and includes everything in Acrobat Pro plus AI Assistant, which can edit, convert and compress PDFs on request, summarise documents and answer questions about them. It also adds PDF Spaces for collaboration and Adobe Express Premium for turning documents into flyers, social content and presentations.

For someone reading long reports or contracts every week, the summaries can save real time. For occasional PDF editing, Pro is enough.

Working with cloud storage

Adobe says Acrobat works with its own Document Cloud and with OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box, so you can open and save files from those services without downloading and uploading them by hand. That matters if your team keeps client files in shared drives, because comments and reviews stay attached to the one cloud copy rather than a pile of emailed versions.

How to choose and buy

  1. Check whether you need redaction, web forms or scan editing. If not, pick Standard.
  2. Decide on billing: annual billed monthly, annual prepaid or monthly.
  3. If you choose an annual plan, note the 14-day date in your calendar.
  4. For several staff, look at Acrobat Teams, which Adobe says makes it easier to buy and manage multiple licences from one admin console.
  5. If you also need Photoshop or Illustrator, look at Adobe's Creative Cloud plans page too, where Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Studio are listed alongside the design apps.

If you only need to make quick changes, my guide on how to sign a PDF shows the free ways first.

My verdict

Acrobat Pro at US$19.99 a month is the right plan for most small businesses that handle contracts and client paperwork, mainly because of redaction and scan editing. Go for Standard if you only edit and sign. Be careful with the annual plan: it's the cheapest way to pay each month, but the cancellation fee after 14 days makes it a twelve-month decision, so only choose it if you know you'll use Acrobat all year.
