TeamViewer vs AnyDesk: Which Remote Desktop Tool Fits?

AnyDesk suits small teams that want a fast remote desktop tool with clear limits, from Solo with 1 licensed user and up to 100 managed devices to Advanced with 100 users and up to 1000 managed devices, plus an on-premises option on Ultimate. TeamViewer suits IT teams that want remote support inside a wider platform, with device monitoring, endpoint protection, an AI agent called Tia and integrations with ServiceNow, Jira and Microsoft Intune. Pick on how much of your IT you want in one place.

Both tools let you see and control a computer that isn't in front of you, which is why they're shortlisted together. I read TeamViewer's home and licence pages and AnyDesk's home and features pages to see where each one puts its weight. They're closer on the basics than you'd think, and that's why the details matter.

The device limits AnyDesk prints on every plan

AnyDesk's plan table is unusually specific, and that helps when you're sizing a purchase. Solo includes 1 licensed user, 1 connection and 3 registered devices to connect from. Standard covers 20 licensed users and up to 500 managed devices for unattended access, and Advanced covers 100 users and up to 1000 managed devices, with a command line interface and MSI mass deployment. Every tier allows unlimited devices to connect to in interactive sessions. AnyDesk defines a user as the person who starts a session, so count your support staff, not your customers.

Where TeamViewer goes further

TeamViewer's turned remote access into one part of a bigger IT platform. Its ONE platform adds digital employee experience tools that spot issues before users notice, and its add-ons cover asset management, endpoint protection, device monitoring, AR-powered assistance and mobile device management, each with a 30-day free trial. TeamViewer says it was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DEX tools, and Tia, its AI agent, learns from every support session.

Where AnyDesk keeps things simple

AnyDesk focuses on the connection itself. You can run it in the cloud or on your own servers, add SSO and two-factor authentication, encrypt connections and control permissions. Version 9 is out now with features aimed at help desks. If your team doesn't need more than dependable remote access and support, AnyDesk's tiers are easier to match to a headcount, and you won't be paying for modules you never open.

Checks before you roll out remote access

  • How many people will start sessions, and how many devices need unattended access?
  • Do you need an on-premises deployment for compliance reasons?
  • Should remote access sit inside your service desk tool?
  • Will you need monitoring, patching or endpoint protection later?
  • Who will enforce SSO and two-factor sign-in for everyone?

Before you install either one, read my notes on whether TeamViewer is safe and whether AnyDesk is safe to use, so you know which settings to switch on first.

My advice on TeamViewer or AnyDesk

If you're a small business that needs remote support for a known number of machines, start with AnyDesk and pick the tier whose user and device limits match yours. If you run IT for a growing company and want monitoring, endpoint protection and service desk integrations in the same place as remote access, TeamViewer's the better fit. Whichever you choose, trial it on your real machines and your slowest connection before you roll it out to staff.

Do you make remote access or IT support software? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place in comparisons like this one.
