No, Disney Plus doesn't offer a free trial right now. Disney+ says so directly on its own offers page: Disney+ does not currently offer a free trial. Its terms keep the option open for the future, but it also says a free trial is never guaranteed, so any trial link you find elsewhere is either out of date or a third-party promotion.
Plenty of old articles still promise a free week of Disney+. Here's what Disney's own pages say today, and the ways people get Disney+ without starting a plan from scratch.
What Disney's own pages say
The clearest line comes from the Disney+ UK offers page, which answers the question head on: Disney+ does not currently offer a free trial. Instead, it points to shorter-term offers on its regular plans.
Disney's terms explain how a trial would work if one came back. It says your plan may include a free trial, but availability isn't guaranteed and any trial only runs on its own stated terms.
Who would qualify if a trial returned
Disney's terms list the factors it uses to decide eligibility, which is useful if you ever see a trial advertised:
- The plan you pick. A trial on one tier won't necessarily apply to another.
- Whether you've had a trial of that service before.
- How recently you redeemed a free trial.
- Whether the plan is part of a combined offering, such as a bundle.
- Whether you're trying to combine the trial with another offer, which Disney says may be limited.
The agreement also says your plan starts straight after a trial ends unless you cancel, and that you won't get a separate warning that the trial is ending. That's the clause that catches people, so a reminder in your calendar is the safest habit.
Disney+ plans and offers in the UK
In the UK, the Disney+ offers page lists three plans and two ways to make them go further:
| Option | What you get | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Standard With Ads | The plan with ads | Anyone |
| Standard | Ad-free | Anyone |
| Premium | Ad-free, Disney's top plan | Anyone |
| 6-month saver offer | A lower monthly rate for six months | New and eligible returning members |
| Annual plan | 12 months for the length of 10 months of monthly plans | Standard and Premium |
For a returning member, the saver offer is the closest thing to a trial Disney+ currently runs, because it's open to eligible people coming back as well as new members.
Ways to get Disney+ included with something else
If there's no free trial, the next best thing is a plan you already have that includes Disney+. Two that are documented on official pages:
- DIRECTV Genre Packs. DIRECTV's plans page says some of its genre-specific plans come with Disney+, the Hulu bundle and HBO Max Basic With Ads included.
- The Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max bundle. HBO Max's help centre lists this bundle among its plan options, which can be the simpler route if you want all three anyway.
Your phone or broadband provider may also have a Disney+ deal, so check your account before you join directly.
How to test Disney+ without a trial
- Pick the most basic plan that does what you need, usually the plan with ads.
- Join on disneyplus.com rather than through a partner, so cancelling stays in one place.
- Set a reminder two days before your renewal date.
- Watch the shows you joined for in that first month.
- Cancel from your Account page if it doesn't win its place. Disney's terms say you can cancel any time before the end of the current period.
Is a Disney Plus free trial worth hunting for?
No. Every search for a Disney+ trial link ends in an expired promotion or a site that wants your details. Disney itself has said there isn't one. For free ways to watch, see my guide to where to watch free movies, and if you're casting from your phone, here's how to mirror an iPhone to your TV.
If you see a Disney Plus trial advertised
Disney's terms say any free trial only runs on its specified terms, so read the offer screen itself rather than the advert that sent you there. Check three things before you add a card: which plan the trial is for, whether it says new members only, and the date it ends. If you joined through a partner, such as an app store or a phone network, Disney's terms say that partner's rules can apply, so the trial may not work the same way.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
And if a site asks for your Disney+ login to give you free access, close it. Disney doesn't run trials that way, and handing over your password risks the account you already have.
Changing plans instead of cancelling
If you're on Disney+ already and only want to cut back, Disney's UK offers page says current monthly members can change their plan at any time from the Account page. Moving down to the plan with ads is often a better test than cancelling outright, because you keep your profiles and watch history while you decide.
My verdict
Treat month one of Disney+ as your trial. If you're coming back after a break, check the saver offer first, and if you're already with DIRECTV or a phone network that includes Disney+, use that instead of a fresh plan.
Frequently asked questions
Does Disney Plus have a free trial?
No. Disney+ says on its own offers page that Disney+ does not currently offer a free trial.
Will Disney Plus bring back its free trial?
Possibly. Disney's terms say a plan may include a free trial, but availability isn't guaranteed and any trial runs on its own stated terms.
Who can use the Disney+ 6-month saver offer?
Disney+ says the UK saver offer is open to new and eligible returning members.
Can I get Disney Plus included with another service?
Yes. DIRECTV says some of its Genre Packs include Disney+, and HBO Max lists a Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max bundle.
Will Disney+ warn me before a trial ends?
Not necessarily. Disney's terms say you won't get a separate notice that a free trial is ending, unless the law where you live requires it.
Can I switch to a lower Disney+ plan instead of cancelling?
Yes. Disney+ says current monthly members can change their plan at any time from the Account page, which lets you keep your profiles while you cut back.
