Free Landing Page Templates (2026): Where to Get Them and the Settings to Check Before You Publish

The short version: Mailchimp, Kit, HubSpot, Carrd and Canva all give you free landing page templates. If the page exists to grow your email list, build it in the email tool you already use, and in Mailchimp check the audience before you publish, because you can't change it afterwards.

A landing page does one job: it gets a visitor to take one action, usually joining your list or booking a call. You don't need a developer or a full website to build one. A free template and an afternoon will do it.

Where to get free landing page templates

In no particular order, each one best for a different job:

  • Mailchimp: best if your email list already lives in Mailchimp.
  • Kit: best for creators building a list for a newsletter or lead magnet.
  • HubSpot: best if you want landing pages tied to a free CRM.
  • Carrd: best for a simple one-page site or link page.
  • Canva: best for a quick, design-led page when you don't need a form.

Which template to choose

The best landing page template is usually the one inside the tool that holds your list. If the page signs people up in the same system that sends your emails, there's nothing to connect and nothing to break. That's why I'd start with Mailchimp, Kit or HubSpot before a standalone builder, unless you only need a page of links.

Pick a template with one clear headline, a short list of benefits, one form and very little else. A template packed with sections looks impressive in the gallery but gives visitors more places to wander off.

The Mailchimp settings that catch people out

Mailchimp's own help guide has a few rules worth knowing before you hit publish. Landing pages must be associated with an audience in your account, and after you publish the page, you can't change that audience. So if you have more than one list, check it's the right one first.

The guide also warns that the landing page builder doesn't stop you publishing default content in your layout. In other words, if you forget to replace a sample headline or image from the template, it can go live unchanged. Mailchimp strongly recommends previewing the page and reviewing your settings before you publish.

Two more technical limits: iframes and custom HTML can't be used in Mailchimp landing pages, and merge tags can't be used in public landing pages because they pull individual contact data. If you were planning to embed a video player or personalise the page by name, plan around that.

How to build a landing page from a free template

  1. Decide the one action you want visitors to take.
  2. Open the landing page templates in the tool that holds your email list.
  3. Choose the simplest template with a single form.
  4. Replace every piece of template text and every image, including the page title.
  5. Check which audience or list the form adds people to.
  6. Preview it on your phone, then publish and test the form with your own email.

What every landing page needs

  • A headline that names the result the visitor gets.
  • Two or three short benefits, written for the reader.
  • One form or button, repeated lower down on longer pages.
  • A line about what happens next, such as when the download arrives.
  • A short reassurance, such as your privacy note or a line of social proof.
  • No main menu, so there's nowhere else to click.

Writing the words on the page

The template gives you a layout. The words decide whether people sign up. My ChatGPT prompts for landing page copy will help you draft headlines and benefits fast, and before you share the link anywhere, run through my landing page conversion checklist.

Write the headline about what the visitor gets, not what you do. Free guide to planning a month of content in an afternoon beats Download my content guide every time.

Before you publish, also think about where people arrive from. If they come from an Instagram post, use the same image and words on the page so they know they're in the right place. If they come from an email, the headline should match the link they clicked. That consistency alone stops a lot of people leaving straight away.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

After you publish

Send the page some traffic from your social profiles, your email signature and the end of your best blog posts, then look at how many visitors sign up. If very few do, change one thing at a time, starting with the headline, so you can tell what made the difference. Small, single changes teach you far more than redesigning the whole page.

My verdict: build your landing page in the email tool you already use, start from the simplest template, and replace every bit of sample content before you publish. In Mailchimp, double check the audience first, because that's the one setting you can't change later.
