2 Million Views on Instagram: Money in India and What Decides It

2 million views on Instagram don't come with a set payment in India, because Instagram doesn't pay a published rate per view. Money comes from brand deals you negotiate, partnership ads and any Instagram monetisation tools your account is eligible for. Instagram's own rules (an eligible country, original content, a real audience) decide whether those views earn anything.

A Reel that hits two million views is a brilliant moment, and the first thing most people do is search for what it's worth in rupees. The straight answer is that Instagram doesn't publish a per-view rate, for India or anywhere. What it does publish are the rules that decide whether your account can earn at all, and those matter far more than the view count.

For most Indian creators, the first row is where two million views pays off. A big Reel is proof for a brand that your content travels. Partnership ads are worth knowing about too: Meta describes them as a brand putting ad spend behind your content so it reaches people beyond your followers, and its own creator page suggests you can negotiate more for that extra usage.

The Instagram rules that decide whether you earn

Where you live

Instagram's Partner Monetization Policies say you must live in an eligible country where the product or feature is available, and you can lose access if you move or Instagram changes eligibility. Features roll out country by country, so check what appears in your own professional dashboard rather than relying on what creators elsewhere describe.

Whether the Reel is yours

Instagram's Content Monetization Policies say unoriginal content reproduced without meaningful enhancements, such as commentary, parody or creative editing, can't be monetised. Two million views on a reposted clip doesn't count.

What format it's in

Static videos, slideshows, looping clips, static image polls and text montages can't be monetised either. If your viral Reel is a photo slideshow set to music, that's a reach win, not a monetisation one.

Whether the audience is real

Instagram says you can only monetise content consumed by your natural audience, and you may lose the ability to monetise if your audience is largely fake likes, follows or views. Never buy views to push a Reel over a milestone.

What 2 million views tells a brand

Brands don't pay for views in isolation, but a two million view Reel opens doors because it shows three things: your content can travel beyond your followers, your hook works, and your topic has demand. When you pitch, share the Reel, the reach, saves and shares from your insights, and where your viewers are based. That's a far stronger case than a follower count.

One tip if you'd rather the public didn't fixate on numbers: Instagram lets you hide like and view counts on your own posts before you share them, under Advanced settings. You'll still see your totals, and so can any brand you choose to show.

Why you'll see wildly different numbers online

Search this question and you'll find confident rupee figures in videos, comments and blogs. They can't all be right, and most aren't checkable. Instagram doesn't publish a rate, its tools are available in some countries and not others, and one creator's brand deal tells you nothing about the next. Even Instagram's own policies say it can change or pause monetisation features at any time. The only numbers I'd trust are the ones in your own insights and the fee a brand agrees to in writing.

What I'd do in the week after a 2 million view Reel

  1. Pin the Reel to your profile so new visitors see it first.
  2. Post a follow-up in the same style within a few days while people are still discovering you.
  3. Check your professional dashboard for any monetisation tools available in your country.
  4. Save your insights for that Reel: reach, saves, shares and audience location.
  5. Pitch two or three brands that fit the topic, offering a branded Reel with a partnership ad option.
  6. Reply to as many comments as you can, because those new viewers are deciding whether to follow you.

For other milestones, I've covered what a hundred thousand Reel views means and the main ways Indian creators earn on Instagram.

My verdict

Two million views is valuable, but Instagram isn't going to send you a payment for it. Treat it as your best piece of proof. If the Reel was original and your audience is real, use it this week to land a brand deal, because that's where the money is. If it was a repost, enjoy the boost and make the next one your own.

Frequently asked questions

How much money do you get for 2 million views on Instagram in India?

Instagram doesn't publish a per-view rate, so there's no fixed amount. Money comes from brand deals and partnership ads you negotiate, plus any Instagram tools your account is eligible for in your country.

Does Instagram pay for Reel views in India?

Instagram doesn't publish a per-view payment for India. Which monetisation tools you can use depends on your country's eligibility and Instagram's policies, shown in your professional dashboard.

Can a reposted Reel earn money on Instagram?

No. Instagram says unoriginal content reproduced without meaningful enhancements like commentary, parody or creative editing can't be monetised.

Can I hide view counts on my Instagram posts?

Yes. Before sharing a post, open Advanced settings and turn on hiding like and view counts. You'll still see your own totals.

What is an Instagram partnership ad?

It's when a brand puts ad spend behind your branded post so it reaches people beyond your followers. Meta suggests creators can negotiate more for that extra usage.
