Where to Get Free Notion Templates (2026): 5 Places and How to Duplicate Them

The short version: Notion's own template gallery, the templates built into Notion's new page menu, creators' websites, community forums and newsletters from Notion creators are where to get free Notion templates in 2026. Notion's gallery has more than 30,000 templates, and you add a free one to your workspace with the Duplicate button.

Notion templates are the fastest way to get organised without building a system from scratch. A good one gives you a content calendar, a client tracker or a habit tracker in seconds. A bad one is a beautiful page you never open again. The trick is picking a simple template, duplicating it cleanly and making it yours.

Five places to find Notion templates

In no particular order:

  • Notion's template gallery: best for browsing tens of thousands of templates by category and creator.
  • Notion's built-in templates: best for a quick start from inside a new page.
  • Creators' own websites: best for full systems from the people who built them.
  • Community forums and groups: best for templates shared to solve a specific problem.
  • Creator newsletters: best for occasional free templates sent to subscribers.

Templates change and creators update them, so look at the preview before you duplicate.

Notion's template gallery says you can choose from more than 30,000 Notion templates, built by Notion's community. You can browse by category, explore collections of templates that work well together, or look through the work of individual creators. Some creators specialise, from personal productivity systems to business operating systems for agencies, so if you find a style you like, look at what else that creator has made.

Not every template in the gallery is free, so check the template page before you set your heart on one. Free templates are usually shared as public Notion pages, which is where the Duplicate button comes in.

Duplicating a template, and the No access blocks

Notion's help centre explains that you can duplicate public Notion pages into your own workspace. Go to the public page, click Duplicate in the upper right corner, and choose the workspace you'd like to add it to from the dropdown. Notion then takes you to the page, now duplicated into the Private section of your sidebar, ready to edit.

Here's what surprises people. Notion's help says that after duplicating, you might see some blocks that say No access. These are most likely blocks that weren't intended to be duplicated, and you can delete them from your workspace. It also notes that creators can turn off the Duplicate as template option on a public page, which is why some shared pages have no Duplicate button at all. If that happens, the creator hasn't made it available to copy.

It's also worth knowing where duplicates land if you belong to more than one workspace, such as a personal one and a work one. The dropdown lets you choose, and it's easy to drop a personal habit tracker into your team's workspace by mistake. Take a second to check the name in the dropdown before you click, and if a template ends up in the wrong place, duplicate it again into the right workspace and delete the stray copy. Keeping personal and work templates apart saves confusion later, especially when colleagues can see everything you add to a shared workspace.

Making a template your own

  1. Pick the simplest template that does the job, not the most impressive one, and read its description first.
  2. Duplicate it into the right workspace from the upper right corner.
  3. Find it in the Private section of your sidebar.
  4. Delete any No access blocks and sample content you don't need.
  5. Rename properties and views to match how you work.
  6. Use it daily for a week before you add anything new.

Content calendars, client trackers and habits

Free Notion templates suit content calendars, client trackers, reading lists, meal plans and habit trackers. Creators' own sites and newsletters are worth a look once you know what you need. Many Notion creators share one or two free templates as a taster of their style, and these are often more polished than a random forum share because the creator's reputation is attached. Check the template page clearly says free, and look at when it was last updated, because Notion adds features and an older template might not use them.

My advice: start in Notion's gallery, duplicate one simple template, and use it for a week before collecting more. The template you use beats the ten you saved, and you'll learn far more about Notion by tweaking one than by collecting dozens you never open again.
