Where to Get Free Coloring Pages (2026): 6 Printable Sources for Kids and Adults

The short version: Crayola, NASA Space Place, the #ColorOurCollections museum and library books, Canva, Microsoft Create and AI coloring page makers all give you free coloring pages to print in 2026. Crayola has the widest range for kids and adults, while the library books give you something nobody else at the table will have.

Free coloring pages are one of those searches that never goes away. Parents want a rainy day activity, teachers want something for the last ten minutes of a lesson, and plenty of adults just want to switch off with a pen and a printed page. The good news is that you don't need to hand over an email address to get great ones. You just need to know where the well-made pages live, because a lot of what turns up in search is blurry, stretched or covered in ads.

Six places to print coloring pages

In no particular order, each one best for a different job:

  • Crayola: best for the biggest themed range, from seasonal scenes to character pages, for kids and adults.
  • NASA Space Place: best for planets, the Sun and space themes, each as its own PDF.
  • #ColorOurCollections: best for unusual coloring books drawn from historic library, archive and museum collections.
  • Canva: best for designing your own page with text, a name or a class theme added.
  • Microsoft Create: best for printable activity pages from Microsoft's own template site.
  • AI coloring page makers: best when you want a page of something oddly specific that nobody has drawn yet.

Crayola, NASA and the library coloring books

Crayola's free coloring page library is built for every age. Its own page describes printable sheets for kids and adults, from seasonal scenes to character favourites, meant to be downloaded, printed and coloured any time. Browse by category and you'll find Adult Coloring, Color By Number, Disney, Educational, Holidays, Dinosaurs and Animals, plus a Custom Page Creator for making a page of your own. For a class that's working through a topic, the Educational and seasonal sections save a lot of searching.

NASA Space Place is the best pick for science-loving kids. It offers coloring pages of faraway worlds, and you download each one as a separate PDF: the Sun, Mercury, Venus and the rest of the planets. Because each page is its own file, you can print just the planet you're talking about instead of a whole booklet.

The hidden gem is #ColorOurCollections. Run from the New York Academy of Medicine Library, it brings together libraries, archives and other cultural institutions around the world that share free coloring sheets and books based on materials in their collections, and it invites you to download, print and share your favourites. The pages come from botanical drawings, medical illustrations, old newspapers and rare books, so they're a lovely change from cartoon characters, especially for adults.

The NASA logo isn't part of the free deal

Here's the detail most people miss. NASA's media guidelines say its content, such as images, audio and video, generally isn't subject to copyright in the United States, and that NASA content used in a factual way that doesn't imply endorsement can be used without asking. But the NASA insignia, logotype and identifiers are not in the public domain, and their use is protected by law.

So printing a NASA planet page for a class or a family activity is fine. Building a branded workbook or event flyer that puts the NASA logo front and centre, as if NASA backed it, isn't. NASA also notes that it sometimes uses third-party material with permission, marked with the copyright holder's name, and for those you'd need to ask the holder directly. The same habit works everywhere: read the small print on any page you plan to share beyond your own kitchen table.

Printing pages that colour well

  1. Pick the source by audience: Crayola for younger kids, the library books for adults, NASA for science topics.
  2. Download the PDF rather than saving the preview image, so the lines stay crisp.
  3. Print a single test page before printing a whole stack.
  4. Use thicker paper if you're using markers, so the colour doesn't bleed through.
  5. For a class set, print one master and photocopy it, which keeps every copy identical.
  6. Keep a folder of favourites by theme, so next rainy day takes seconds.

Rainy days, classrooms and quiet evenings

Coloring pages work well as a calm screen break, a classroom warm-up or a slow evening wind-down. If you'd rather create a page of something specific, my list of AI coloring page makers that are free covers the tools, and if you enjoy drawing your own, these drawing prompts are a good next step. Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

My advice: start with Crayola for kids and the library books for yourself. The museum pages are the ones people ask about, because nobody else has them on the fridge.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get free printable coloring pages?

Crayola, NASA Space Place and the #ColorOurCollections library books all offer free coloring pages to download and print. Canva and Microsoft Create let you make or edit your own.

Are there free coloring pages for adults?

Yes. Crayola has an Adult Coloring category, and #ColorOurCollections shares coloring books based on historic library, archive and museum collections, which suit adults well.

Can I make my own coloring page for free?

Crayola offers a Custom Page Creator, and AI coloring page makers can turn a description into line art. Print a test page first to check the lines are clean.

Can I use NASA coloring pages in class?

Yes. NASA says its content generally isn't subject to copyright in the United States and can be used factually without implying endorsement. The NASA insignia and logotype are protected, so don't use them as if NASA backed your material.

What paper is best for coloring pages?

Thicker paper works best with markers because colour is less likely to bleed through. Ordinary printer paper is fine for crayons and coloured pencils.
