Best Website Builder for Real Estate Agents: 10 Options

The best website builder for real estate agents gives you listing search, lead capture and a design that reflects your brand. Some are real estate platforms with IDX and a CRM built in, some are design agencies and some are general builders with property templates. Ten options follow in no particular order.

Buyers and sellers usually check out an agent's website before they ever call, often after they've already found you on social media or through a referral. It needs to look trustworthy, show listings clearly and make it easy to get in touch.

The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, from DIY builders to done-for-you design. Each description comes from the tool's own site, read this week. If you already have a WordPress site, my guide to setting up an IDX plugin on WordPress shows another route.

Real estate website builders at a glance

In the free plan column, Yes means the tool's own site describes free use or a free plan, Trial only means a time-limited trial and No means neither is stated on the pages we read. Most real estate platforms start with a demo or trial rather than a free plan.

The fair housing rule that applies to your website

Here's the rule every US agent's website copy has to follow. 24 CFR 100.75 makes it unlawful to publish any notice, statement or advertisement for the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates any preference, limitation or discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.

That applies to your website copy, neighbourhood pages and listing descriptions, so describe the property and the area, never the kind of buyer you'd prefer. Check any AI-written copy carefully, because it can slip in phrases that suggest a preference.

Real estate platform, design agency or general builder?

Real estate platforms include IDX listing search, lead capture forms and often a CRM, so leads go straight into your follow-up system. Design agencies build a custom site around your brand, which suits established agents and luxury markets. General website builders are quick and flexible but need extra work to add listings.

New agents often start with a general builder or a simple real estate platform. As your business grows, the lead capture and CRM features of a dedicated platform usually earn their place.

Pages every agent website needs

  1. A clear homepage that says where you work and who you help.
  2. Listing search or your current listings.
  3. Neighbourhood or area guides with useful local detail.
  4. A seller page explaining how you market homes.
  5. Reviews and recent results from real clients.
  6. A simple contact form and booking option on every page.

Lead capture that doesn't annoy visitors

  • Ask at the right moment. Offer saved searches or alerts rather than blocking listings.
  • Keep forms short. Name, email and one question is often enough.
  • Respond fast. Speed of reply often decides who wins the client.
  • Be clear about follow-up. Tell people what happens next.

Local content wins searches

Buyers search for areas as much as homes. Well-written area guides with schools, transport, parks and what daily life feels like can bring steady visitors who are already thinking about moving. Write them from your own knowledge, and keep the focus on the place rather than the people who live there.

Mobile first, always

Most property browsing happens on phones. Test your site on a phone before launch: check that photos load quickly, search filters are easy to use and the call or message button is always within reach. If it's fiddly on a phone, visitors won't stay.

Do you make a real estate website builder or IDX tool? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My plain advice on choosing a real estate website builder

Choose for leads, not looks alone. A beautiful site that doesn't capture enquiries or connect to your CRM won't grow your business. Ask each provider how leads are captured, where they go and how quickly you're alerted.

Then make the site yours. Real photos, honest reviews and local knowledge set you apart from every other agent using the same template. For broader ideas, my piece on real estate marketing strategies for changing markets is worth reading.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best website builder for real estate agents?

It depends on whether you need IDX, a CRM, custom design or a quick template. The list above covers each type.

What is IDX?

IDX lets you show MLS listings on your own website so visitors can search homes without leaving your site.

Do fair housing rules apply to my website?

Yes. 24 CFR 100.75 covers notices, statements and advertisements for the sale or rental of a dwelling, which includes website copy.

Can I use a general website builder?

Yes, especially when starting out, though adding listings and lead capture may take extra work.

Should my website connect to a CRM?

Ideally, yes, so every enquiry is followed up quickly and nothing gets lost.

How often should I update my website?

Update listings as they change and refresh area guides and reviews every few months.
