To duplicate a page in Squarespace, open the Pages panel, hover over the page and click the gear icon, then scroll to the bottom of page settings and click Duplicate Page and Confirm. The copy opens for editing with (Copy) in its title and sits in the Not linked section until you move it.
Duplicating a page is one of the biggest time savers in Squarespace. Instead of rebuilding a service page, landing page or event page from scratch, you copy one you're happy with and change the details. It takes seconds, but there are a few things that don't come across in the copy, and a URL detail that catches people out. Here's the full process.
Duplicate a page step by step
- Open the Pages panel.
- Hover over the page you want to copy and click the gear icon.
- Scroll to the bottom of page settings and click Duplicate Page.
- Click Confirm.
- The copy opens for editing. Change the title, content and settings.
- Move the page from Not linked into your navigation if you want it in your menu.
Squarespace says the copy keeps the same blocks, layout, images and settings as the original, which is exactly why it's so useful.
Where your copy ends up
Squarespace places the duplicate in the Not linked section of the Pages panel. That means it isn't in your menu, so visitors won't stumble on it while you're working. When it's ready, drag it into your main navigation, or leave it unlinked if it's a landing page you'll share by link.
Fix the title and the URL
| What copies over | What you'll see | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Title | The original title with (Copy) at the end | Rename it in page settings |
| URL on version 7.1 | The original slug with a number, such as /about-1 | Change it to something meaningful |
| URL on version 7.0 | The word copy added, such as /about-copy | Change it to something meaningful |
Here's the detail most people forget. Squarespace gives the copy a near-identical URL, such as /about-1. If you launch the page without changing it, you end up with a messy address that tells neither visitors nor search engines what the page is about. Always update the URL slug in page settings to match the new content.
What doesn't come across
Squarespace warns that content added to page-specific headers, intro areas, footers or sidebars won't appear on the new page. If your original page had any of those, you'll need to add them again.
Duplicate a section instead
Sometimes you don't need a whole page, just one great section. On version 7.1:
- Open the page and click Edit.
- Hover over the section you want to copy.
- Click the duplicate icon. The copy appears below.
Squarespace notes that newsletter and form blocks in a duplicated section need a storage option connected manually, so check those before you publish.
Duplicate a single block
In Fluid Engine sections on version 7.1, click a block so it's highlighted, then click the duplicate icon or press Command + D on a Mac or Control + D on Windows. Squarespace says this doesn't work in classic editor sections or on version 7.0 sites, where you'd duplicate a page or section instead.
Smart ways to use duplicate pages
- Build one perfect service page, then copy it for each service.
- Create a landing page template for campaigns and duplicate it each time.
- Copy an event or workshop page for the next date.
- Test a new layout on a copy before changing the live page.
Watch out for duplicate content
Two pages with almost identical text compete with each other in search. When you duplicate a page, rewrite the content for its new purpose: a new headline, new description and new details. Keep the layout, change the words. My Squarespace marketing strategy guide covers getting each page found, and my piece on landing pages on your own domain explains why campaign pages belong on your site.

Duplicate blog posts, products and events
Squarespace lets you duplicate collection items too, such as blog posts, products and events. Copies keep the same title with (Copy) added, and Squarespace says it opens the copy's settings straight away so you can change the title and content. Their URLs get a string of random characters on the end, so update those as well. It's a quick way to reuse the structure of a popular product listing or a regular event.
Duplicate a whole site
If you want to copy your entire Squarespace site rather than a page, that's a different process, and Squarespace has a separate guide for duplicating a site. It's useful if you're building a second site with a similar layout, or testing a big redesign without touching the live version.
A quick checklist after duplicating
- Rename the page title.
- Change the URL slug.
- Rewrite the headline and main copy.
- Update the SEO title and description in page settings.
- Reconnect storage for any forms or newsletter blocks.
- Move the page into your navigation if needed.
My verdict
Open the Pages panel, click the gear icon, choose Duplicate Page and confirm. Then rename the page, change the URL slug, re-add any page-specific headers or sidebars, reconnect form storage, and move it out of Not linked when it's ready. Copy the layout, but always rewrite the words.
