Google Opinion Rewards works in India: India is one of the 39 countries where Google lists the Android app as available, for users over 18. Indian Android users earn Google Play credit, and the setting that decides your surveys and the currency of your rewards is your Google Account country, not your Play Store country or where you happen to be.
Google Opinion Rewards is one of the few survey apps with a real presence in India, because Google itself runs it. But Indian users run into a specific problem that Google's help centre now addresses head-on: rewards in the wrong currency, or credits that won't spend. It all comes down to how Google decides which country you're in.
India on Google's availability list
Google's help page lists 39 countries where the Google Opinion Rewards app is available for download on Android, and India is one of them. Users in those countries who are over 18 are eligible. In India, that means you install the app from the Play Store, answer the setup questions and wait for surveys.
The country setting that decides everything
| Setting | What it controls | Where to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Google Account country | Which surveys you get and the currency your rewards are issued in | Google's country association page |
| Google Play country | Which store catalogue you see and your Play balance currency | Settings inside the Play Store app |
| Physical location | Not what the app uses for rewards | Your current location |
Google is explicit that Opinion Rewards uses your Google Account country, and that this can differ from your Play country or your physical location. To spend your credits without a currency mismatch, your Google Account country and Google Play country should match. For most people in India both will already say India. Mismatches are most likely if you've moved country, or created your Google account while living somewhere else.
Fixing a wrong country on your Google account
- Sign in with the Google Account you use for Opinion Rewards.
- Open Google's country association page and check the country shown.
- If it doesn't reflect where you live, follow the on-screen steps to request a correction.
- Wait; Google reviews the request and says changes aren't instant.
- Once updated, the app switches to the new country and currency.
Google adds a reassuring detail: if your rewards country changes, credit you already earned isn't lost. It stays in your Play balance in its original currency, and you can see it in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, then Payment methods. The app's home screen will only show the balance for your current country.
What Indian users earn and how
On Android, Google pays Play credit you spend on apps, games, books and other Play Store content. Google says the amount varies with the number of questions and how long a survey takes, and some surveys, such as the setup questions, don't pay at all. If you've seen a completion screen but nothing has been credited after 7 days, use the feedback option in the app menu.
The iPhone version pays cash to PayPal and keeps a separate reward history, but the country list I read on Google's page covers Android downloads, so if you're on iPhone in India, check the App Store to see whether it's offered.
Spending Play credit sensibly
Because Android rewards arrive as Play credit, the value depends on whether you'd buy anything in the Play Store anyway. Good uses are apps you'd otherwise pay for, in-app purchases you already make, books and films. If there's nothing you want right now, that's fine; just keep an eye on the balance, and spend it on something you'd have bought anyway rather than an impulse download that you'll delete a day later. Check your Play balance before buying, so the credit is used rather than your card or UPI.
Getting more surveys in India
- Keep your Google Account country set to India so you're matched with Indian surveys.
- Answer the setup questions carefully; Google uses them to judge respondent quality.
- Answer honestly and consistently every time.
- Turn on notifications so you don't miss surveys before they close.

A word on fake Google survey offers in India
Real Opinion Rewards surveys arrive inside the Google app. Messages on WhatsApp or SMS promising rupees for a 'Google survey' and asking for a payment, a UPI PIN or an OTP aren't from Google. Delete them. Google Opinion Rewards never needs your banking details on Android, because it pays in Play credit.
My verdict on Google Opinion Rewards in India
It's officially available in India and one of the safest survey apps you can install, because it's run by Google and pays in Play credit. Keep your Google Account and Play country both set to India, answer honestly, and treat the credit as a way to buy apps and games for free rather than as income.

Why are my Google Opinion Rewards in the wrong currency?
The app uses your Google Account country for rewards currency. If it's wrong, request a correction on Google's country association page.
Do I lose my credit if my Google country changes?
No. Google says previously earned Play balance stays in its original currency and can be seen under Payments & subscriptions in the Play Store.
How do Indian users get paid by Google Opinion Rewards?
On Android, as Google Play credit that you spend in the Play Store.
Why didn't I get credit for a survey?
