Is Luckyscent Legit? Returns, Samples and Shipping Rules (2026)

Yes, Luckyscent is a real niche fragrance retailer that began in 2002 and runs Scent Bar stores in Los Angeles and New York. The catch is its returns rules: samples are final sale, and a full refund needs an unused, unopened item, so you'll want to try a sample before committing to a full bottle.

Buying perfume you can't smell first always feels like a gamble, and it's worse when the brand is niche and the bottle costs real money. I've read Luckyscent's own about, returns, payment and shipping pages, so here's what they say, where the limits are and how to avoid copycats.

Who is behind Luckyscent

The about page says the business began in 2002 and describes itself as a destination for rare, niche and independent perfumes. It says its first physical shop, Scent Bar in Hollywood, opened in 2006, and that its team spans Los Angeles and New York.

Its homepage lists Scent Bar stores in Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles, plus New York City and Brooklyn. A retailer with named shops and a long history is a good sign, though the pages I read don't name individual owners, so I can't say who owns it.

How Luckyscent's samples work

The about page says Luckyscent introduced one of the first fragrance sample programmes, so people who couldn't visit a store could try a scent before buying a full bottle. It has also added a Fragrance Fitting service, which it describes as thoughtful recommendations from staff rather than an algorithm.

This is the feature I'd lean on. Niche fragrance is personal, and a scent that smells wonderful on a card can turn on your skin. Because of the return rules below, samples are the safer way to find out first. Just remember the samples themselves can't be sent back.

Luckyscent's return policy in its own words

The customer service page says most products bought online can be returned for a refund up to 30 days after the item has been shipped, and that the customer pays the shipping costs. To get a full refund, the item must be unused, unopened and in its original and undamaged packaging, and you contact Luckyscent first to get return authorisation.

  • If an item is opened, used or the packaging is damaged, Luckyscent says it can't provide a full refund.
  • Partial refunds on opened items are reviewed case by case.
  • All sales of samples are final, and sample returns aren't accepted.
  • Online orders can't be returned to any Scent Bar location.
  • Le Labo products can't be returned because they're made to order.

The page also says money is refunded within 14 business days after Luckyscent receives the package. So if you're buying a gift on a deadline, build in time. The bottom line is that once you've sprayed it, you've bought it.

Where Luckyscent ships and how you pay

The shipping page says that if your country doesn't appear in its list, Luckyscent is currently unable to fulfil shipments there, and the list shows 25 countries including the United States. Check it before you fall for a bottle if you live outside the US.

Luckyscent's payment page says it accepts American Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and PayPal. Paying by card or PayPal gives you more routes to dispute a problem than a bank transfer to a stranger would, which is another reason to pay only at the official checkout.

What I checkedWhat Luckyscent's own pages say
Real business?Began in 2002; first Scent Bar store opened in 2006
Physical stores?Los Angeles, New York City and Brooklyn
Return window?Up to 30 days after shipping, for unused and unopened items
Samples? All sales of samples are final
Shipping?A list of 25 countries; others can't be served
Refund timing?Within 14 business days after it receives the package

What Luckyscent's pages don't say

I looked for a statement about authenticity or an authorised-retailer guarantee on the pages I read, and I didn't find one. That doesn't mean the stock is anything other than what it says, but it does mean I can't promise it. If provenance matters to you, ask Luckyscent in writing before you buy, and keep the reply.

I also didn't find a regulator action against Luckyscent in the sources I checked, and I'm not claiming there isn't one. Fake Luckyscent sites and social adverts

Luxury and niche perfume attracts lookalike shops that copy a brand's photos and offer prices that seem too good. Type the address yourself rather than tapping an advert, check you're on the official site before entering card details and be wary of anyone asking you to pay outside the checkout.

  • Be suspicious of a 'Luckyscent' shop you found through a social media advert with a very different web address.
  • Never pay by gift card, crypto or bank transfer to a person.
  • If a message claims your order has a problem, log in to your account directly instead of clicking its link.
  • Use the contact page on the official site for support, not numbers posted in comments.

My verdict on Luckyscent

It's a real, long-running perfume retailer with physical shops, clear payment options and published returns rules, so it isn't a scam. The thing to know is how strict those rules are: samples are final, and a full refund needs an unopened item. Order samples first, check that it ships to your country and buy the full bottle only once you've fallen for it.
