How to Change Your Kick Username (Rules and Steps)

To change your Kick username, turn on two-factor authentication, then open kick.com/settings/profile and edit your channel name. Kick's help says you can change it only once every 60 days. Your display name, which people see in chat, is a separate setting with its own 60-day limit.

Your Kick username is the name in your channel address and the name people search for, so if you picked it in a hurry, or your brand has moved on, you'll want to fix it. The good news is that Kick lets you change it. The less obvious news is that there are two rules you need to meet first, and one of them catches almost everyone out.

Everything here comes from Kick's help centre. Where help is silent on something, I'll say so instead of guessing.

Username or display name on Kick: which one are you changing?

Kick has two different names, and mixing them up is the number one reason people think the change didn't work.

NameMeaning, per Kick's helpHow often you can change it
Username (channel name)The name tied to your channelOnce every 60 days, and only with two-factor authentication on
Display nameWhat other users see in chat or on a channelNo more than once every 60 days

If you only want a different spelling or capital letters in chat, the display name may be all you need. If you want your channel address and name to change, that's the username. Kick's profile guide treats the username as your channel name, so look for the wording channel name on the settings page.

What you need before you can change your Kick username

Kick's profile help says your channel must have Two-Factor Authentication enabled before you can change the username. So the first job, if you haven't already, is turning it on. Kick's guide for this says:

  1. Go to your channel security page at kick.com/settings/security.
  2. Select the Enable 2FA button.
  3. In Google Authenticator, scan the QR code or type in the setup code by hand.
  4. Select Continue Setup.
  5. Type the current 6-digit code shown in the app.
  6. Select Continue Setup again to finish.

Keep your authenticator app safe on a phone you won't lose. If you swap phones, move the app across first, or you'll find yourself locked out of the very settings page you're trying to use.

Changing your Kick username step by step

With 2FA on, you're ready. Kick's profile help starts you on the Profile Information page:

  1. Log in to Kick on a computer and go to kick.com/settings/profile.
  2. Find the field for your username, which Kick's help calls your channel name.
  3. Type the new name you want.
  4. Save the change.

Menus vary by version, and Kick's help doesn't spell out every click in the username field, so follow the on-screen labels if they differ from my wording. Choose carefully, because once you've changed it, Kick's help says you can't change it again for 60 days.

Changing your Kick display name instead

If the display name is what you're after, Kick's viewer profile guide describes it like this: click your avatar in the top right corner, go to your account settings, and open the profile section. You can change it, but no more than once every 60 days. It doesn't have the 2FA requirement attached in the help article, though I'd still switch 2FA on, as Kick recommends it to protect your account.

Picking a Kick username that works for your brand

A username isn't just a label. If you're a small business or creator, it's the first thing a viewer sees and the thing they have to type or remember. A few habits:

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Match it to the name you use elsewhere, so people who know you on other platforms can find you.
  • Keep it short enough to say out loud on a video or podcast.
  • Avoid doubled letters and look-alike characters that are easy to mistype.
  • Don't use your real name unless you're comfortable with it being public. Kick's help advises exactly this.

If you need ideas to get started, my free TikTok username generator gives handle suggestions that work on other platforms too. And since your avatar goes with your name, my tips on changing a profile picture on Discord apply in spirit to your Kick avatar as well.

Once your new name is saved, tidy up everything that pointed at the old one. Kick's profile page also lets you edit your avatar, banner image and bio. For the avatar, Kick's help asks for an image at least 128px x 128px, no larger than 4MB, in JPG, JPEG or PNG format. Social accounts are entered as the username only, not the full web address.

Then update the places outside Kick: your website, email signature, other social bios and any links you've shared. Your old channel address won't be what people expect any more, and Kick's help doesn't promise a redirect, so treat the old link as out of date.

If the Kick username option won't let you change it

  • Check two-factor authentication is switched on for the channel, because it's required.
  • Remember the 60-day gap. If you changed it recently, you'll have to wait.
  • Make sure you're on the profile settings page while logged in to the right account.
  • Try a different browser or clear your cache if the page won't save.

If none of that helps, contact Kick's support team through its help centre with your current username and a clear description of what's not working.
