Yes, many Netflix mobile games work offline, but it depends on the game. You need internet to download and install each one, and some also need it the first time you open them. Leaderboards and cloud saves wait until you reconnect. Netflix games on TVs and computers need a stable connection, so they don't work offline.

Netflix games come with a Netflix membership, and they're easy to miss. They're mobile games with no ads and no in-app purchases, which makes them a handy option for keeping kids busy on a long journey. The obvious next question is whether they'll work once the signal disappears.
Everything here comes from the Netflix Help Center: its general pages on playing games, plus the support page Netflix publishes for each individual game. Those per-game pages are the key, and I'll show you how to read them.
Do Netflix games work without Wi-Fi?
Some do and some don't. It depends on the game and on the screen you're playing on.
- Phones and tablets: Netflix's mobile games are downloaded and installed on Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad. Netflix says you need an internet connection to download and install each game. After that, many games can be played offline, but each game has its own rules.
- TVs and computers: Netflix describes games on TVs and in a computer browser as a beta that isn't in every country or on every device, and it says you'll need a stable internet connection. These aren't offline games.
- The deciding factor: every Netflix game has a Help Center support page with an Offline play line. That line is your answer.
Which Netflix games can you play offline?
Here's what Netflix's own support pages say for a few popular titles. Treat this as an example of how the information is laid out rather than a full list, because Netflix adds and removes games over time.
| Game | Offline play (Netflix Help Center) | What still needs internet |
|---|---|---|
| Tomb of the Mask | Yes, playable without an active connection | Global leaderboards, event rankings, achievements and cloud saves |
| Heads Up! | Yes, some features need internet | Some features, which Netflix doesn't list; no cloud saves |
| Spiritfarer | Yes | Nothing listed; no cloud saves, so progress stays on that device |
| Netflix Puzzled | For some features | Downloading, installing and the first time you open it |
| Games on TV or a computer | No | A stable internet connection throughout |
Notice the pattern. The core game often works offline, while anything social or shared, such as leaderboards, rankings and cloud saves, waits until you're back online.
How do you check if a Netflix game works offline?
This takes a couple of minutes, and it's worth doing before a flight or a road trip rather than at the gate.
- Search the Netflix Help Center for the game's name followed by Game Support.
- Open that page and find the Offline play line. It will say Yes, For some features, or similar.
- Check the Cloud saves line too. If it says No, your progress lives only on that phone or tablet.
- Download and install the game on the device you're taking, while you're on Wi-Fi.
- Open the game once while you're still online and sign in with your Netflix account if it asks.
- Turn on airplane mode, open the game again and play for a few minutes to make sure it loads.

Do you need to sign in to play Netflix games?
Usually, yes. Netflix says you play its games using your Netflix account and profile, and the install steps tell you to sign in with your Netflix email and password if you're prompted. You also need an active membership.
There are exceptions. Netflix's page for Netflix Puzzled says you don't need a Netflix account to play it, though your progress is then saved only on the device you're using.

What happens to your game progress when you're offline?
Netflix says games are saved to the profile you choose, either as cloud saves or locally on your device. That difference matters for offline play:
- Games with cloud saves: your progress can follow you between devices once you reconnect.
- Games without cloud saves: progress stays on that one device. Netflix warns that if you uninstall the game or play on a different device, you'll start from the beginning.
- Kids profiles: a game may not appear for a profile whose maturity setting is lower than the game's rating, so set up the right profile before you leave home.
Why can't you find a Netflix game on your device?
Netflix lists a few reasons a game might not show up: your device doesn't meet the game's minimum requirements, the profile's maturity level is set below the game's rating, or the game hasn't launched yet. It also points out that mobile games are for phones and tablets, not TVs.
For the best experience, Netflix recommends Android 9, iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or higher, and some games ask for more, so check the game's own page. If you'd like more choice for screen time on the move, these board games you can play on your phone are another good route. Frequently asked questions
Can you play Netflix games on a plane?
Many of them, yes. Download the game and open it once on Wi-Fi before you fly, then check its Netflix Help Center page says Offline play is supported.
Do Netflix games need internet the first time you open them?
You always need internet to download and install them. Some games, like Netflix Puzzled, also need a connection the first time you open them after downloading.
Can you play Netflix games offline on a TV?
No. Netflix says games on TVs and computers need a stable internet connection, and they're a beta that isn't available everywhere.
