How to Delete Account on Roblox: Options, Steps and a Parents' Guide

On many devices you can delete a Roblox account from inside the app or website: open Settings, go to Account Info, choose Delete Account, then follow the prompts and confirm. If you don't see that option, Roblox's support form lets you request deletion. Deletion is permanent once it's processed.

Roblox has changed where this option sits more than once, so treat the steps below as a guide and check Roblox's own help article called "How do I delete my account" for the current wording.

Because deletion can't be undone, I'd start with the gentler options. Some people only want a break, a fresh start or less time on the game, and none of those need the account to disappear.

Three levels, from gentle to final

Think of this as a ladder. Step up only as far as you need.

Level one: log out and step away

Logging out is free of consequences. Your account, items and friends stay exactly as they are. If the real problem is that the game takes up too much time, delete the app from your phone or console for a while. You can come back whenever you like.

Level two: take a break with controls

If you want to stay in control without losing anything, use the settings that are already there. Turn off chat, limit who can contact you, or ask a parent to set limits through Parental Controls. Taking a month away and then deciding is far kinder to your future self than deleting in a bad mood.

Level three: delete the account

Choose this only if you're sure. Everything attached to the account goes, and Roblox can't bring it back once the request is processed.

Steps to delete your Roblox account

  1. Sign in to the account you want to delete, in the Roblox app or on the website.
  2. Open Settings (the cog icon, or the menu if you're on a phone).
  3. Go to Account Info.
  4. Look for Delete Account and select it.
  5. Read the message carefully and follow the prompts. You may be asked to confirm your password or verify it's really you.
  6. Confirm the deletion.

If your version words things differently, search the settings for the word "delete" or "account". If there's still no option, go to the next section.

If you can't see a delete option

Not every account shows the button. In that case you can ask Roblox to delete it through support.

  1. Open Roblox's support or contact form through the Help pages.
  2. Choose the option for account or privacy and data requests.
  3. Say that you want your account deleted, and give the username and the email linked to the account.
  4. Send the request and keep the confirmation email.

Use the email address that's attached to the account, so support can confirm it's yours. Never try to delete or get into an account you don't own, and never share a password with someone who contacts you pretending to be Roblox.

Before you press confirm

  • Cancel any Roblox Premium membership first. Cancel it in the store where you bought it, such as the App Store, Google Play or a console store. Deleting the account doesn't automatically stop a store subscription.
  • Spend your Robux or decide you're fine to lose it. Robux balances don't come with you.
  • Save anything outside Roblox that you want to keep, such as screenshots of builds or a note of friends' usernames.
  • Tell your friends where to find you on another app, if you'd like to stay in touch.

If you built games, think carefully. Anything you created goes with the account, so if you might want it later, a break is the safer choice.

What happens to Robux, items and friends

In general terms, once deletion is processed the account is gone for good. That includes your avatar and the items you own, any Robux balance, your friends list and the games and creations tied to that account. You can't recover them later.

A new account starts from nothing. Roblox won't transfer items or Robux from the old one, so don't count on it. If any of this worries you, go back to the first two levels of the ladder and give yourself time.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Questions to ask yourself first

  • Is this about the account, or about one thing in the game, like a person, a chat or a habit? Blocking, reporting and muting fix a lot of problems without deleting anything.
  • Will I want any of these items, friends or builds back later?
  • Is someone else involved, such as a parent who set the account up or a friend you play with every day?

If the answer to the first question is "one thing in the game", the blocking and chat settings are usually enough. If you do want the account gone, you'll go into the steps knowing why.

For parents: deleting a child's account

If you're a parent or guardian and want a child's account deleted, the route is the same support form. Explain that you're the parent, say which account you mean, and give the details Roblox asks for so they can check the request. If you have the child's login, the in-app route may work too.

Before deleting, it's worth talking it through. Children often have friends, builds and items they care about, and finding out afterwards that it's all gone can upset them. Parental Controls let you manage chat and who can contact your child, and those settings may solve what's bothering you without ending the account.

Roblox is mainly played on computers, phones and consoles, but I know some families use school or budget devices. If that's your situation, you might find my guide to playing Roblox on a Chromebook useful, and playing Roblox on a laptop without a mouse if you're managing with a trackpad.

Deleting other accounts too

If you're having a general clear-out of your online accounts, the steps for each service are different. I've explained how to delete or deactivate a Facebook account, for example, and it follows a similar rule: think about the gentler choice first.

If you change your mind

Once the request is processed, it's final, and I wouldn't count on any way back. That's why a pause is worth it. Wait a day, then read this page once more before you press the last button. If you're still sure, you'll press it with a clear head.

Frequently asked questions

Can I recover a Roblox account after I delete it?

No. Once Roblox has processed the deletion, the account, its items, Robux balance, friends and creations are gone for good. Check Roblox's help article for the current details.

Where is the delete account button on Roblox?

On many devices it's under Settings, then Account Info, then Delete Account. If you can't see it, use Roblox's support form to request deletion.

Do I need to cancel Roblox Premium before deleting my account?

Yes, cancel it first in the store where you bought it, such as the App Store, Google Play or a console store, so the subscription doesn't carry on.

Can a parent delete a child's Roblox account?

Yes. A parent or guardian can request deletion through Roblox's support route, giving the details Roblox asks for to confirm the request.
