To see who liked your Instagram post, open it from your profile and tap the likes line below it. For a reel or video, tap the view count first, then open the likes list. Hiding like counts doesn't stop you seeing your own likes, and business or creator accounts can tap View insights for more detail.
Seeing who liked your Instagram post is one of the quickest ways to understand who's paying attention. For a small business, those names can be customers, potential clients, collaborators or competitors keeping an eye on you. It's also reassuring when you've hidden like counts and want to check that you can still see the detail.
This guide covers how to see who liked your own posts and reels on the app and in a browser, what happens when like counts are hidden, and how insights add more context if you have a professional account. The steps follow Instagram's own help centre. Instagram changes its menus often, and labels can differ by app version and region, so look for the closest match if your screen doesn't look exactly the same.
See who liked your Instagram photo post in the app
- Open Instagram and tap your profile picture at the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap the post you want to check.
- Look below the photo for the likes line, which shows a like total or a short line naming someone who liked it.
- Tap that line to open the list of people who've liked your post.
- Scroll through the list, and tap any name to visit that person's profile.
The same steps work for carousel posts with several photos. The likes belong to the whole post, not to each slide.
See who liked your Instagram reel or video
Instagram's help centre explains that for a video, you first tap the view count below the video. From there, you can see the number of likes it has and who's liked it.
- Go to your profile and open the Reels tab, or open the video post from your grid.
- Tap the view count or the likes line below the reel.
- Open the likes list to see the accounts that liked it.
If you'd like to understand what someone else has liked, which is a different question, my guide on seeing which reels someone liked explains what's possible.
Checking likes on your Instagram posts from a computer
You can also look at your posts on a laptop or desktop computer.
- Go to instagram.com in your web browser and log in.
- Click your profile picture or the Profile link to open your profile.
- Click the post you want to check.
- Click the likes line under the post to open the list of people who liked it.
The browser layout is simpler than the app, so a few options, including some insights, only appear on your phone.
Hidden like counts and your own Instagram likes
Instagram lets you hide like counts in two ways, and neither stops you seeing your own likes.
- On your own posts: before you share a post, open Advanced settings at the bottom of the screen and turn on Hide like and view counts on this post. Instagram's help centre says you'll still be able to see the total number of likes on your own posts.
- On other people's posts: in Settings, look under What you see for Like and share counts, and turn Hide like and share counts on or off. This changes what you see in your feed.
- Hiding a count isn't the same as hiding the likers. It hides the number, while you, as the owner, can still open the list of people who liked your post.
If you're wondering what others can see about your own liking activity, my guide on whether people can see your Instagram likes covers that side.

Why you can't always see who liked someone else's post
- If the owner has hidden the like count, you'll see less detail than they do. You may still spot names of people you follow in the likes line.
- If the account is private and you aren't an approved follower, you can't see the post or its likes. Instagram says approved followers can see likes on a private account's posts.
- If someone has blocked you or restricted you, posts and activity may not show up for you.
- If the post has been archived or deleted, it won't be visible to anyone but the owner, or no one at all.
Using Instagram insights to understand your post likes
If you have a business or creator account, insights give you a wider view than the likes list. Instagram's help centre explains that you can tap View insights below an individual post or reel.
- Interactions include actions such as likes, comments, saves and shares.
- Reach shows how many accounts saw the post, which helps you judge your likes in context.
- Tap each metric for more detail, and use the information icon for definitions.
- Insights cover activity from when you switched to a professional account, so older posts may show less.
For help reading the numbers, my guide to reading your Instagram dashboard numbers explains each metric in plain English.
Instagram likes list not showing? Troubleshooting
- Update the Instagram app, then close and reopen it.
- Check your connection, as the likes list may not load on a weak signal.
- Log out and back in, or try opening the post in a browser instead.
- If the list looks shorter than the like total, some accounts may be private, deactivated or no longer exist, so names can drop off.
- If you can't find the likes line at all, check whether you're on a newer layout and tap the like total or view count instead.
- If problems carry on, use Report a problem in the app's settings.
Turning post likes into business insight
Don't treat likes as a score on their own. Look at who's liking your posts. If they're the people you want to reach, your content is doing its job. If not, adjust the topics, formats or captions. Reply to comments, say thank you to regular supporters, and note which posts attract the kind of people who later get in touch. Those patterns are far more useful than a single total.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see who liked my Instagram post?
Open the post from your profile and tap the likes line below it. For a reel or video, tap the view count first, then open the likes list to see who's liked it.
Can I see who liked my post if I've hidden the like count?
Yes. Hiding the like count hides the number from other people, but Instagram says you can still see the total on your own posts, and you can open the list of likers.
Why can't I see who liked someone else's post?
The owner may have hidden the like count, the account may be private, or you may be blocked or restricted. You'll usually see less detail on other people's posts than the owner does.
Can I see who liked my post on a computer?
Yes. Log in at instagram.com in a browser, open your profile, click the post and then click the likes line underneath it.
Do Instagram insights show the names of people who liked my post?
No. Insights show totals such as interactions and reach. To see names, open the likes list on the post itself.
