News blogs that accept guest posts are a mixed group: niche news sites, industry news blogs and opinion outlets. My list has no single news category, so I counted sites with news in their name or domain: 51 sites, 46 live in September 2026, and 29 with a domain authority of 40 or more. Examples include newstatesman.com, newswatchtv.com and educationnews.org. Check each site's guidelines before you pitch.

When people search for news blogs that accept guest posts, they usually mean one of two things. Either they want to place an opinion or expert article on a news-style site, or they want coverage of something their business did. Those are different jobs with different rules, and mixing them up is the quickest way to get ignored.

A quick note on method: my free list of websites that accept guest posts sorts sites by topic, not by format, so there's no news category. For this page I picked out the sites that have news in their name or domain. It's a rough filter, but it surfaces the sites that present themselves as news.

Only about one in ten was dead or parked, which is better than most niches. News sites that survive tend to be run as real businesses, with staff and a publishing schedule.

Which news blogs accept guest posts?

Twelve live sites from my list, with their domain authority when I checked:

  • newstatesman.com: DA 82
  • newswatchtv.com: DA 70
  • vegnews.com: DA 69
  • dailynewshungary.com: DA 69
  • educationnews.org: DA 66
  • newsblaze.com: DA 66
  • dsnews.com: DA 61
  • newsgram.com: DA 58
  • socialnewsdaily.com: DA 58
  • thepienews.com: DA 57
  • sitepronews.com: DA 55
  • jewishbusinessnews.com: DA 64

These cover very different topics, from politics to education to food and tech. News-style sites are usually tied to a beat, so match your topic to the site's beat rather than picking by authority alone. Guidelines change, so read each site's current write for us page before you pitch.

What's the difference between a guest post and a press release?

A press release announces something: a launch, a hire, a funding round. It goes to journalists, who decide whether it's news. A guest post is an article you write, usually offering expertise, opinion or analysis, and an editor publishes it under your name.

News sites treat these very differently. Many accept contributed opinion or expert pieces but delete anything that reads like a company announcement. If you have real news, send it to journalists. If you have expertise on a news topic, write a guest post.

What do news editors want from guest posts?

  • A reason to publish now. Tie your piece to something happening in the industry or the news cycle.
  • Original insight. A fresh view, data or first-hand experience beats a summary of other people's reporting.
  • Facts that check out. Every claim needs a named source, since news editors are more cautious about errors.
  • Clear labelling. If a post is sponsored, expect it to be labelled as such.
  • Tight writing. News readers skim. Get to the point in the first paragraph.

Free guest post or sponsored post on a news site?

Editorial contributions on news-style sites are competitive and slow. Sponsored posts are quicker and more predictable, and they suit agencies placing posts for clients against deadlines. Read the site's policy on sponsored content first, because news sites are strict about labelling.

How do you check a news site before you pitch?

  • Search site:domain.com. If very few pages come up, move on.
  • Read the three newest posts. Is the site still publishing, and who writes for it?
  • Check the beat. Does the site cover your topic regularly, and does it take outside writers?
  • Find a name. A real editor you can email beats a form that never replies.
  • Ask if posts are permanent. Some sites prune old content in clean-ups.

How should you pitch a news-style site?

Lead with the hook. Your first line should say what is happening, why it matters now and what you can add that other writers can't. Then offer the article in a few sentences, with your credentials and one or two named sources or data points you'll use.

If your piece depends on a particular date, say so, because news editors work to deadlines. And if you also have a story that is truly news, such as a research finding, send that to journalists separately rather than packaging it as an opinion piece.

Can you place a news-style post on my blog?

Sometimes, if it's an expert piece on a marketing or business topic. lilachbullock.com is a marketing blog that's been publishing since the dial-up days, with thousands of indexed articles, and my readers are business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs, mostly in the USA and the UK. I don't publish company announcements. Guidelines are on my news page.

How placing a post on my blog works

  1. Email [email protected], or start on my write for me page, with your target URL, topic and niche.
  2. I reply with whether it fits and which format I'd pick: a new sponsored post or a link insertion into an existing, indexed article.
  3. You send the article, or I choose the right existing article for your link.
  4. I edit, publish and send you the live URL.

Accepted posts usually go live within 24 to 48 hours of everything being agreed. Placements are permanent. I invoice by PayPal, and if you're an agency, I never contact your client.

For the buying side, read how buying a guest post on my blog works.

Placing an expert article? Email [email protected] with your target URL, topic and niche, or start on my write for me page. Agencies and repeat buyers are welcome.
