I'm Lilach Bullock, an AI trainer and AI implementation consultant who runs Microsoft Copilot training for business teams. My sessions are hands-on and built on the emails, meetings, documents and spreadsheets your people already handle in Microsoft 365, so they leave using Copilot on their own work, with agreed rules and a plan for next week.

Most teams that roll out Copilot licences hit the same wall within a month. A few keen people use it every day, everyone else tried it twice, and the licences sit there. The tool isn't the problem. Nobody showed the team where Copilot fits into the work already on their screens.

That's the gap my Copilot training closes. I've spent 23 years in marketing, I built, scaled and sold a digital marketing agency, and since 2024 I've rebuilt my own business around AI. I train teams on what changes their week, not on a tour of every button.

Where Copilot earns its keep in a normal week

Copilot is strongest where your team already loses hours: long email threads, meetings nobody had time to write up, first drafts of documents, and spreadsheets that need explaining to someone who didn't build them. Training should start there, because that's where people feel the difference on day one.

  • Outlook: summarising a long thread before you reply, and drafting the reply in your own tone.
  • Teams: turning a meeting into actions, owners and dates while it's still fresh.
  • Word: building a first draft from the files you already have, then editing it like a human.
  • Excel: asking plain questions about a table and checking the answer before anyone acts on it.
  • Copilot Chat: pulling together what the business already knows on a topic, from the files each person can open.

What Microsoft says happens to your data

Data worries stop more Copilot rollouts than anything else, so I cover them in the first session with Microsoft's own words. Microsoft Learn's page on data, privacy and security for Microsoft Copilot says prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph aren't used to train foundation LLMs. The same page notes that Microsoft 365 Copilot is now named Microsoft Copilot, so don't be thrown if your licence screens still use the old name.

The line I spend more time on is a different one. Microsoft Learn says Copilot only surfaces organisational data that each user has at least view permission for. That's reassuring, and it's also the catch: if a folder of salary files or client contracts is shared with the whole company by mistake, Copilot will happily find it for anyone who asks. Tidy your sharing settings before the training, not after.

How a Copilot training session runs

Every session follows the same shape, whether it's one team of six or a wider rollout over several weeks.

  1. We list the tasks your team repeats every week and pick the ones that eat the most time.
  2. We build Copilot into those tasks together, live, on real material from your own Microsoft 365.
  3. Everyone writes and saves their own prompts for the jobs they do, so nothing depends on memory.
  4. We agree the rules: what Copilot can be used for, what always gets a human check, and what stays out.
  5. Each person leaves with a plan for the next week, and I follow up to see what stuck.

Who this Copilot training suits

It suits owners and managers who've rolled out Copilot, or are about to, and want their team using it on real work rather than admiring it in a demo. It suits marketing, sales, operations and admin teams who live in Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel. It works online or in person, in English, for teams in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and across Europe.

It doesn't suit IT teams who need help with licensing, tenant configuration or security engineering. That's work for your Microsoft partner or IT provider, and I'll tell you so on the first call.

Why I don't train Copilot on its own

Most of the teams I meet use more than one assistant. Someone has ChatGPT open, someone else prefers Claude, and Copilot sits inside the apps everyone uses. I'm independent, I'm not a Microsoft partner, and I'll show your team which jobs belong in Copilot and which belong elsewhere. If you want the other side of that picture, my ChatGPT training for teams follows the same method.

Copilot training as part of a wider AI rollout

For some businesses Copilot training is the whole job. For others it's one piece of a bigger change, where the team also needs workflows built, rules written and someone to keep it moving after the first month. That's the AI implementation work I do alongside training, and you can see how the two fit together on my work with me page.

If you're still deciding whether Copilot is the right tool at all, start with Microsoft's own overview in my guide to what Microsoft 365 Copilot is, then come back with the tasks you want faster. I'd rather train a team that has picked its tool on purpose than one that inherited a licence.

My plain advice before you book Copilot training

Check two things before anyone sits down for training. First, who can see what in SharePoint and OneDrive, because Copilot will respect those permissions exactly as they are. Second, which three tasks you most want faster, because training built on your real work sticks and training built on features is forgotten by Friday.

Then judge the training a month later. If someone is writing meeting notes, replies or reports differently, it worked. If not, it was a demo.

Frequently asked questions

Who runs Microsoft Copilot training for small business teams?

Lilach Bullock, a British AI trainer and AI implementation consultant, runs hands-on Copilot training for business teams, built on their own emails, meetings and documents, online or in person.

Does Microsoft use our Copilot prompts to train its models?

Microsoft Learn says prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph aren't used to train foundation LLMs. I'd still agree team rules on what goes into any AI tool.

Can Copilot see files people shouldn't see?

Copilot only shows data a user already has at least view permission for. So if sharing settings are too loose, it can surface files that were never meant to be widely visible. Fix permissions first.

Is Microsoft 365 Copilot the same as Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft Learn says Microsoft 365 Copilot is now named Microsoft Copilot, and some screens may still show the older name during the change.

How long does Copilot training take?

A focused team session is usually a 90 minute hands-on workshop, with follow-up afterwards. Wider rollouts run as a short series so each team trains on its own tasks.
