Zambian creators can't join TikTok's Creator Rewards Program, and TikTok Shop doesn't list Zambia. LIVE Gifts are the documented route, but check the age rule: TikTok says 18 or the local age of majority, which Wikipedia lists as 21 in Zambia.
Zambian creators ask me a question that most 'how to get paid' guides skip: does my age change anything? In Zambia it might, and it's the first thing I'd check before you wait for TikTok money. Below I'll cover that, the programmes that exist for Zambia, and how any payment ends up in kwacha.
The age rule that could catch younger Zambian creators out
TikTok's Virtual Items Policy says you must be 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to buy Coins, receive Gifts or withdraw Diamonds. For most countries those are the same number. Wikipedia's table of ages of majority lists Zambia at 21, citing an ILO working paper, which is higher than the 18 TikTok names.
I need to be careful here. I couldn't find a TikTok page that says how it treats 18 to 20 year olds in Zambia, and I'm not a lawyer, so I can't tell you which number TikTok applies. What I can say is that the wording leaves room for both. If you're under 21, ask a parent or guardian to be involved, read the policy yourself, and don't be surprised if TikTok asks for age verification before paying. If you're 21 or over, this doesn't affect you.
Programmes Zambia is and isn't part of
The Creator Rewards Program, which pays qualifying creators for videos over one minute, is open in eight countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. Zambia isn't one of them, so it isn't open to creators based in Zambia.
TikTok Shop's seller site lists a set of markets in the Americas, Southeast Asia and Europe in its region menu. Zambia isn't there. That's 'not listed', not 'banned', but it does mean no official selling or affiliate route today.
LIVE Gifts are the one documented option. Zambia falls under the rest-of-world version of the Virtual Items Policy. Diamonds can be withdrawn as money denominated in US dollars, paid to a nominated PayPal account or another third-party payment channel. Your first and last name has to match the PayPal account exactly, TikTok can verify your identity and age, and it may deduct taxes.
From dollars into kwacha
The Zambian kwacha (ZMW) is divided into 100 ngwee and issued by the Bank of Zambia. It was rebased once already: under the Re-Domination of Currency Act, three zeros were removed, and the new kwacha became legal tender in 2013 (on 1 January). Because of that history, check that any conversion tool or old article you rely on uses the current kwacha, not figures from before the change.
Because TikTok calculates in US dollars, your kwacha result depends on whoever converts it. Compare your bank's rate and fees with your PayPal conversion rate before choosing. TikTok says rewards may be taxable and that it can't offer personal tax advice, so a local accountant is the right person for questions about what you owe in Zambia.
Get your paperwork ready before the first withdrawal
Whatever your age, you'll save yourself trouble if you set things up early. Open a PayPal account in your full legal name, make sure it matches the name you'd give TikTok exactly, and keep a copy of your national ID handy in case TikTok asks you to prove your identity or your age. Write down every withdrawal with the date and amount. If you're under 21, speak to a parent or guardian first, so a question about your age doesn't catch you out when you're waiting on the money.

A plan that doesn't depend on a programme
- Check the LIVE option in your app. I couldn't confirm the follower rule from an official page, so your app is the final word.
- Pick a subject Zambian audiences search for: farming, music, football, small business, fashion or faith content, then post consistently.
- Sell something of your own and use videos to send people to WhatsApp.
- Contact Lusaka, Kitwe and Ndola businesses with a one-page offer that shows your average views and audience.
- Add a platform where Zambia is officially covered. My guide to what YouTube pays in Zambia is a good start.
If you'd like to see how the rest-of-world rules play out elsewhere, my Zimbabwe guide goes through the same checks with a different currency story.

Warnings
Don't pay anyone who claims they can enrol you in a programme Zambia isn't part of. Don't buy views, because TikTok excludes fraudulent and paid views. And don't invent an age on your account to get around a rule. A frozen balance is a lot worse than a delay.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get paid by TikTok in Zambia?
Not through Creator Rewards, which is limited to eight other countries. LIVE Gifts can be withdrawn as US dollars under the rest-of-world policy if your account qualifies.
Is the age to withdraw TikTok earnings 18 or 21 in Zambia?
TikTok says 18 or the age of majority in your jurisdiction. Wikipedia lists Zambia's age of majority as 21, and I couldn't confirm how TikTok applies it, so check with TikTok and an adult you trust.
Does TikTok Shop work in Zambia?
Zambia isn't listed on the TikTok Shop seller site's region menu, so there's no official shop route that I can point to.
How do I turn TikTok dollars into kwacha?
Withdrawals are in US dollars through PayPal or another channel. You convert into kwacha through your bank or provider, so compare rates and fees first.
Will TikTok take tax from my Zambia payout?
TikTok says it may deduct applicable taxes and can't give personal tax advice. Ask a local accountant what you owe.
