TikTok doesn't run Creator Rewards in Ghana, and a Ghanaian bank's 2025 offer to act as a direct payment channel wasn't approved at that point. The documented route is LIVE Gifts, withdrawn in US dollars through PayPal or another channel and converted into cedis.
Ghanaian TikTok is huge, and the question I hear most from creators in Accra and Kumasi is a simple one: when does the money come? Let me give you the checked version. Some parts of the picture are clear, some are being discussed publicly, and some I couldn't confirm. I'll mark which is which as we go.
A Ghanaian bank has already asked to be TikTok's payment channel
The most interesting thing I found is a news item rather than a help page. In 2025, on 2 September, officials from Ghana Commercial Bank told the Communications Minister, Samuel Nartey George, that they'd like to be a direct payment channel for TikTok creators in Ghana. TikTok's West Africa representative, Tokumbo Ibrahim, said he would review whether it was feasible, and the proposal wasn't approved at that point.
Why does that matter to you? It tells you two things. First, local banks know Ghanaian creators struggle to receive money from the app. Second, a direct cedi route doesn't exist yet, so anything you hear about 'TikTok pays into MoMo' or into a Ghanaian account directly should be checked before you build a plan around it.
Where Ghana sits on the official country lists
TikTok's Creator Rewards Program, the one that pays for qualifying videos, is open in eight countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. Ghana isn't one of them. In 2025, in April, Boniswa Sidwaba, who heads content operations for TikTok in Sub-Saharan Africa, said it's a mistake to think Africa has been deliberately excluded from the programme, according to ITWeb. That's a useful signal, but it isn't a launch date, so I'd plan as if Ghana won't be added soon.
TikTok Shop is similar. The seller site's region menu doesn't list Ghana. I'd call that 'not listed' rather than 'banned', and I've covered what it means for sellers in my guide to TikTok Shop in Ghana.
LIVE Gifts under the rest-of-world rules
What remains is the route TikTok documents for countries outside its special lists: LIVE Gifts. In TikTok's Virtual Items Policy, creators in Ghana fall under the version for 'another country', not the EEA, UK or India versions. Viewers send Gifts, you collect Diamonds, and Diamonds can be withdrawn as money denominated in US dollars through a nominated PayPal account or another third-party payment channel.
- You must be 18, or the age of majority where you live, which in Ghana is 18.
- Your first and last name must match your PayPal account exactly.
- TikTok can verify your identity and age before paying.
- TikTok can deduct applicable taxes.
- TikTok sets how Gifts convert into Diamonds and money, so the figure isn't fixed.
I couldn't load an official page that confirms the follower number for going LIVE, so rely on whether the LIVE button appears in your own app.
From dollars to cedis without losing a chunk on the way
The cedi (GHS) is issued by the Bank of Ghana and divided into pesewas. Ghana removed four zeros from it in 2007 (on 2 July) after decades of high inflation, so the currency has a history of moving. Since your payout is in US dollars, the conversion step is where money quietly disappears. Before you commit, ask your bank or payment provider what rate it uses and whether it charges to receive a foreign payment.
TikTok itself says rewards may be taxable and that it can't give you personal tax advice. For anything involving the Ghana Revenue Authority, speak to a local accountant.

Ways to earn from TikTok attention that don't wait for TikTok
Since official payments are narrow, the creators I'd back in Ghana do the following:
- Turn views into enquiries. Add a WhatsApp number or a link in your bio, and make every video point to one thing you sell.
- Pitch Ghanaian brands directly. Fashion, hair, food and mobile-money services all pay for creator content, and a clear media kit with your audience's age and city helps.
- Use LIVE to raise money from fans and to sell your own products in real time.
- Repurpose the same clip on a platform that does pay in Ghana. My notes on what YouTube pays in Ghana and on getting paid on Snapchat in Ghana show what's possible there.
Ghana at a glance
| Route | Available in Ghana? | Source checked |
|---|---|---|
| Creator Rewards Program | No, not among the eight countries | TikTok Creator Academy |
| TikTok Shop | Not on the seller region menu | TikTok Shop seller site |
| LIVE Gifts and Diamonds | Yes under the rest-of-world policy, if the account qualifies | TikTok Virtual Items Policy |
| Direct payment through a Ghanaian bank | Proposed in 2025, not approved at that point | Net Influencer report |
| Brand deals | Yes, agreed directly | Not a TikTok programme |
What I'd do this week if I were posting from Ghana
Check the LIVE tab and TikTok Studio on your account, set up a PayPal account in your legal name, and read your bank's charges on foreign receipts. Then build a short list of ten local businesses and send each one a message that shows a real video you made for a similar business. That's slower than hoping for a programme, but it's the work that pays in cedis now.
Frequently asked questions
Does TikTok pay creators in Ghana?
TikTok doesn't run its Creator Rewards Program in Ghana, but LIVE Gifts can be withdrawn as US dollars under the rest-of-world policy if your account is eligible.
Can TikTok pay me into a Ghanaian bank account or mobile money?
I couldn't find an official page confirming direct payment to a Ghanaian bank or mobile money account. A bank proposed becoming a direct channel in 2025, and it wasn't approved at that point.
Is the TikTok Creator Rewards Program coming to Ghana?
TikTok's Africa content lead said Africa hasn't been deliberately excluded, but no date has been given for Ghana, so don't plan around it.
What age must I be to cash out TikTok Diamonds in Ghana?
TikTok requires 18 or the age of majority in your jurisdiction. In Ghana that's 18.
How do I get TikTok earnings into cedis?
Withdrawals are in US dollars through PayPal or another approved channel, so you convert into cedis through your bank or provider. Ask about the rate and any fees first.
