Searching "AI consultant near me" usually finds agencies, not consultants. The three things that matter are whether they have built AI workflows in their own business, whether they publish the work, and whether they will show you a live example. Location is the least important filter, because almost all AI implementation happens inside cloud tools and on video calls. I am Lilach Bullock, an AI implementation consultant, and I work remotely with businesses in the cities below.
TL;DR
Use the "near me" search to find candidates, then judge them on track record, not postcode. Ask for one live example, ask who owns the workflows when they leave, and ask what they would refuse to automate. Below is how I evaluate consultants, plus the city guides I have written for businesses looking locally.
How to judge an AI consultant, wherever they are
They have shipped it themselves. A consultant who runs AI inside their own business will show you their workflows in five minutes. One who has only advised will show you a deck.
They publish. Case studies, written process, honest posts about what AI is bad at. A public body of work is the cheapest due diligence you can do.
They price on the work. A fixed price per workflow or per project, not an open-ended day rate.
They hand over. You should own every workflow, prompt and document at the end, with your team trained to run them.
Why remote usually beats local
The tools are in the cloud, the calls are on video, and the work is asynchronous: I build while you run the business and you review at the start of your day. A remote consultant with the right track record is available to a business in Perth or Glasgow on the same terms as one in London, and without the travel built into the fee.
City guides
I have written a guide for each of these markets, covering the local sectors where AI pays back fastest and how I work with businesses there: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Dublin, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, San Diego, Dallas, Israel. If your city is not listed, the process is identical.
What I do
I am an AI automation consultant and AI strategy consultant for owner-led businesses: I find the repeatable work eating your week, build the AI workflows that do it, and leave your team owning them. UK owners can start with AI consultants for UK small business; pricing is explained in how AI consulting is priced; or book a call.
I work with businesses across the country as an AI consultant in the UK, and the process is identical outside this city.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
If you are at the hiring stage, my checklist for hiring an AI consultant covers the five questions to ask.
Every industry guide I have written is collected at AI consultant by industry.
My guide to the best HR software for small business covers the tools that handle staff records, leave and onboarding without a full HR department.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find an AI consultant near me?
Search for AI consultants in your city, then check three things: have they built AI workflows in their own business, do they publish their work, and will they show you a live example. Location matters far less than those three.
Does an AI consultant need to be local?
Rarely. Almost all AI implementation is done inside cloud tools and over video calls. A remote consultant with a real track record beats a local one without.
What should a local AI consultant cost?
It depends on scope. Ask for a fixed price per workflow or per project rather than a day rate, and read my guide to how AI consulting is priced before the first call.
What questions should I ask an AI consultant?
What have you built for a business like mine, can I see it working, what will you refuse to automate, what happens to my data, and who owns the workflows when you leave.
Which cities do you cover?
I work remotely with businesses across the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, the US and Israel, and I have written city guides for many of them.
