Should you “hustle” for sales?

Today I want to talk about a somewhat divisive subject: sales vs. engagement – what’s best? Which one should you focus your attention on to get RESULTS?

I’m going to be really controversial here, but I’ve found that engagement doesn’t really help sales any longer – or, at the very least, not how it used to up until just a few years ago.

That’s not to say that engagement isn’t important, because it very much is; connecting with your audience is very important for nurturing these relationships, but the harsh truth is, it won’t actually help you make enough sales. Not at the level you would need it to for BUSINESS GROWTH.

So, engagement doesn’t work…then, what does work? How do you make more sales?

It’s simple, really. What drives SALES is being PROACTIVE. This means actively searching for potential leads, as well as setting up a system where they come to you. It means taking the time to phone them. To email them. To follow up with them at the right time. It means TAKING ACTION.

The thing is, a lot of people fear this will make it look like they’re hustling for sales. But, it’s not hustling. In fact, it’s a necessity in the online business world we live in.

People are often scared of looking like hustlers, as they are worried it will make them look desperate. But, if done the right way, hustling can even build a connection between you and your customer, it can show people that you care and ultimately, it will also bring in sales.

Personally, I always try to make sure I take advantage of every possible opportunity. And that is what a ‘hustler’ does: they identify opportunities, and they take charge. They know what they want to achieve – and they go after it.

In order to start making more sales, you need to change your mindset. And to remember that even though engagement is important, it’s being proactive and going after sales with all your best tools that will actually get you results, help you make more sales and help you SCALE and GROW your business.
